McEssy speaks at Lexington College

President and Chief Nursing Officer of BrightStar Chicago and Berwyn, Cheri McEssy, had the honor of speaking at Lexington College as part of a panel called, “Urban Pioneers: lessons from the field.”This event was in partnership with the West Loop Community Organization and was possible due to a grant from The Coleman Entrepreneur Connection. Other panelists included Mike Meluch, Owner of goPerformance Chicago, Cindy Reid, Founder and Director of Flow Pilates & Wellness Chicago, Sergio Rojas, NBC5 Fitness Expert and Owner of reDEFINED Fitness & Physical Therapy, and Christopher and Mary Anne Yep, Founders of Triune Health Group. The panel discussion was moderated by Holly Katko, President of U-Connect, Inc.

This panel discussion was an opportunity for community members to come together to discuss entrepreneurship in the health and wellness arena. Each business owner discussed their business model as well as some of the challenges they faced along the way. Their challenges ranged from financial struggles to knowing how to market their business and get people to walk in their doors.
