November 25, 2013- “I called BrightStar not knowing who they were or what their credentials were. The voice on the phone couldn’t have been more polite, not at all pushy. After giving her some information I had a lady come to my door from this company(Incidentally she had a package of rolls for us to share. I thought that was not only nice, but a very friendly gesture.) She took time to explain, to council and finally to match us to a person who would suit our situation.
S_______(BrightStar male CNA) came to our front door at the exact time agreed upon. He was pleasant, friendly and seemed very capable. Both my husband and I liked him at once. December 14, 2012-“I have enjoyed working with T____ C______(BrightStar Employee). because she doesn’t make me feel like she is the “Caregiver” and I’m the client. I hate (the feeling), when the person helping me thinks they’re “better” than me because I need help with things that I would have been able to do if I didn’t get a ______ injury when I was only ___ years old. Because of my injury I cannot drive, my reaction time is slow. Despite that I still want to be involved in age appropriate things and T_____ is more like a friend rather than a “Caregiver” to me. But there are only so many hours in a day and I have appointments and other miscellaneous things I need to do. I really appreciate the help she gives me.”K.M. Bloomingdale, Illinois

October 1, 2012-“My name is Dr. A_____ S_____. I am presently serving as power of attorney, power of health care and general manager for all the effects and affairs of my ____, Mr. ______ _______. All his life, he was a fine and caring person. Now he is old and infirm. We are lucky to have D______ G_____(BrightStar Live-in Caregiver) for his full-time (24/7) care. She has been working almost three months. I have observed her work on a very frequent and varied time schedule. My observation is as follows: D_______ is an outstanding person. She is always working to care for and improve (her client’s)life. I have always found him clean-shaven, with working hearing aids in and pills administered. Her meals are outstanding. She is a very smart person with excellent initiative. I noticed when I visit (at least 3 times per week) that the house is clean and smells fresh. She occasionally gets him out, and generally brightens his day. The plants are always watered, the wastebaskets are emptied, the dusting is completed and _____’s personal needs are met in an efficient and very caring and tactful manner. His clothes are clean and he is properly dressed. She is aware of hygiene and understands his medical treatment and care. She is always very patient. D_______ is very smart, although it took me time to realize just how smart, because she is so humble and self-effacing. You just have to mention something once and it is accomplished. She is very good at handling appointments and his physical and social needs in a pleasant manner (always present but never in the way).
My aunt H______, recently deceased, would look down in happiness to see her dear ______(husband, BrightStar Client) so respectfully and well treated. Even though . . . . his quality of care is superior. I’m looking forward to her continued fine work. It is really a gift of God. You may include this letter in D______’s permanent record and use a copy at any time for future reference. With deep appreciation.” Dr. A.S. Wheaton, Illinois

September 1, 2012-- “Every day is a new and different day depending on the clients and hours being worked. Everyday, preparing meals and assisting with activities of daily living. Help clients feel more independent and boost moral and confidence and reassure them of a wonderful job they are doing. Also, helping hospice clients feel comfortable on their journey. I have learned that everyone really IS different. Everyone requires different types of care. I have become more independent and empathetic. There is not a day that goes by that I don’t think about my clients and everything they have taught me and the stories we have shared.
The management team has become a family. When ever there is a problem or question that arises, we can talk to each other on both a business and personal level. We all care for and cover for each other. When someone has an emergency, there is always some one that can and will cover the shifts. The hardest part of my job was the beginning, mainly because I had just moved to the area. When I had started, there seemed to be an over abundance of clients in need. After getting through several months of busy, busy, busy days and nights and weekends with little sleep, work weeks finally calmed down and became more consistent.
The most enjoyable part of my job is getting to know my clients. Everyone has their own story. Also, getting to know the families that regularly visit their loved ones. For those clients that have little to know family, I enjoy being that one person that the client is always looking forward to seeing. It gives me great joy knowing that they are eager to see me.Every day is a new and different day depending on the clients and hours being worked. Everyday, preparing meals and assisting with activities of daily living. Help clients feel more independent and boost moral and confidence and reassure them of a wonderful job they are doing. Also, helping hospice clients feel comfortable on their journey.” Elaina B. (BrightStar CNA) Downers Grove, Illinois
May 30, 2012- “My mother is 93 years old. Several years ago after Mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, my brother who was living with Mom, realized he needed help. I live out of State (CA) which compounded the problem. We were referred to BrightStar by a senior daycare agency and were blessed to have Ellen J. sent to help us with Mom.
Over the past almost 4 years, Ellen has been a godsend, initially providing companionship then expanded personal care services. Ellen cares from the heart. Her gentleness, safety awareness, humor, patience and skill in working with folks like Mom is truly the best a family could hope for. She was a caregiver, then became a friend, now almost family.
Alzheimer’s is a heart-wrenching and confusing situation for the affected person and for every family member. I don’t know how we would have managed without Ellen and BrightStar’s assistance. When we needed help, she was there. Mom recently went into a facility. Ellen still visits Mom – to keep an “eye on her”, to give her hugs, to keep her laughing. We’ve been blessed and are deeply, deeply grateful. K.L. Placerville, California

January 11, 2012- “Brightstar listened to our family needs and tried a couple of care givers until there was a good fit. N___ has been caring for our father for nearly 18 months now and has become a part of our family. Mom will be 105 this June and wouldn’t be making it without her! Thanks, BrightStar, and “Always There” before you; I wouldn’t be making it without you!” J.B. Glen Ellyn, Illinois
December 30, 2011- “We knew my mother did not have long to live when we contacted BrightStar and we are a family with four nurses and a physician. We would have been able to provide the nursing care needed by my mother, but it was such a relief to be able to just be her daughters. The RN’s who came to our home were wonderful, very competent, communicative and compassionate. It was February and we had a huge snowstorm and these nurses arrived on time. We felt confident that our mom was getting the best care and we were able to concentrate on just being with her and with my father. Thank you, BrightStar staff.” L.V. Glen Ellyn, Illinois
December 30, 2011- “Very Satisfactory.” J.A. Wheaton, Illinois
December 29, 2011- “We have been using BrightStar for the past two years, as we have been caring for both a mother and a father in our home. We couldn’t have done it without the BrightStar team. They are faithfully present 24/7, and take excellent care of our loved ones. They pay attention to every detail of the care- personally and emotionally. The details of their care are constantly changing as the doctor and hospice nurse’s instructions often change with meeting medical needs. The team members are very attentive and the nurse & doctor are impressed with the quality of their care. The owners go above and beyond to make sure the care works seamlessly. We are so thankful we chose BrightStar!” T.R., Wheaton, Illinois

I will be away for 1 ½ months and I hope to get her back when I return to Wheaton.” A.W. Wheaton, Illinois

August 16, 2011- “At a very stressful time in my life I called BrightStar on a friend’s recommendation and met Jim and Judy. They were caring and very informative. Not long after our meeting I needed their services. My husband had ALS and they went out of their way to match up a caregiver with our situation. Our caregiver was just what we needed – young; pleasant; knew what to do and how to do it, with little instruction from me; and most of all caring. Our very positive experience ended all too soon. I would definitely call and use them again. Miss You! Hope all is well!” P.S. Glen Ellyn, Illinois

June 8, 2011- “BrightStar assesses the needs of the client very well, and carefully chooses the right CNA’s for the job. The agency works hard to meet the needs of our elderly parents, and sends excellent CNA’s to our home for each shift. We have been enjoying meeting the various CNA’s who help the parents. Each brings a different strength to the job that provides well rounded, complete care for our loved ones. The CNA’s take their jobs seriously and communicate with the elderly, as well as with the family.
The hospice nurse who tends to them twice per week frequently comments on the excellent care they receive through BrightStar.
