Our People
Our people are our greatest asset. From the full spectrum of adult homecare and elder care to childcare and more, the quality services we provide day in and day out would not be possible without the hard work and passion of our dedicated staff. Each member of our team embodies the core values of our business – compassion, integrity, family, excellence, trustworthiness, accountability, and diversity – and strives to make more possible for those in our care.

Home of a 2011 Caregiver of the Year Finalist – Cynthia Cook (Colorado Springs, CO office)
Read the story her client sent to nominate her:
“Cynthia Cook provides 24-hour care for my aunt, Penelope Dean*, 3 days each week. She spends 72 hours a week with Aunt Penelope and does everything for her. She is always positive, gentle, and caring. The things she does which make my aunt so happy are:
- Cooks homemade, gourmet meals.
- Waters her flowers and plants, and brings fresh flowers to her bedside at all times.
- Watches old movies with her and encourages her to read, write and paint.
- Fixes her hair and dresses her daily in attractive clothing.
- Brings her therapy dog, Chewie, to spend time with Aunt Penelope, which thrills her.”

Steve Lamb, MBA
President/Owner
When Steve returned to his home town, Colorado Springs, he wanted a business with a product or service he could believe in. His experience with loved ones who needed home care started his search for opportunities in home health. His research about BrightStar, the quality and high standards maintained by the organization, and the support of the national franchise, convinced him that BrightStar was his opportunity to build a caring organization that provides a much needed service to the community. It’s much more than a job.
Mea Armstrong Haberman, RN/BSN
Director of Nursing
Mea has thirty-five years experience specializing in Pediatric Oncology, Maternal Health, Public Health and Geriatrics. Mea has been in home care for years because she loves making more possible for families who want to stay in their own homes. Mea joined BrightStar because she enjoys helping clients of all ages, and she wanted to work for a company with integrity and favor in Colorado Springs.
Donna Stonerock, RN
Field Nurse and Clinical On-call backup
Donna’s background includes hospital work in Med-Surg, ICU, and step-down units. Outside the hospital, Donna has been a school nurse, doctor’s office nurse, and she worked in a skilled nursing facility. In home health, Donna has been involved in research studies, IV infusions, agency staff relief and high-tech nursing. Donna chose to work for Brightstar because the ideals and mission of the company were something that I believe in and support.
Donna Schilling, LPN
Field Nurse and Clinic Administrator
Donna has served in many capacities at BrightStar, including scheduling, office management, clinic management, and home care. Recently, Donna has decreased the number of hours working with BrightStar, but she continues to visit a few clients and manage the flu clinics. Donna has enjoyed working with the professional staff and being able to say, “yes we can,” when clients call with a special need.
Ted Mehl
Office Manager
Ted’s introduction to healthcare came when he received a life-saving kidney transplant 8 years ago. From this experience Ted learned the value of nurses and CNAs who really care about their clients. Ted joined BrightStar because he wants to be a part of a caring team that is always striving to improve client service.
Ashlie Carter, CNA
Scheduling Coordinator
Ashlie enjoys interacting with the field staff and matching the right person for each client. It is a challenge to coordinate availability of staff with the needs of clients, and Ashlie steps up to the challenge every day. Sometimes, when there is a last minute cancellation, Ashlie puts on her scrubs and fills the shift herself. Ashlie enjoys the variety this brings and getting to know the clients makes selecting the right person to fill the shifts a little easier.
