Our Director of Nursing
Kristy Stroupe McNair, RN
How long have you been a Nurse?
I have been a RN for 8 years. These 8 years have included experience in Home Care, Long Term Care, and Acute Care Facilities. I started my nursing career as a CNA in the 90s, became a RN working at the bedside, and eventually advanced my career to a Nursing Administrative role.
What experience do you bring to BrightStar Care®?
Most of my experience has been in Critical Care Specialty areas which include ICU, PICU, CCU, PCCU, SICU, CVSU, and ED. I have served as a preceptor for new nurse grads for many of these years. I have been on several committees including ones to assist the hospital in obtaining Magnet Recognition and Joint Commission Accreditation. I was a Nursing Shift Manager for a 100 bed hospital. I have been recognized for high quality care and being a constant patient advocate. I received the Nursing Excellence Award, which was voted on by my peers. While my career is a huge part of who I am, my four children are the heart of who I am. My twin girls are the oldest followed by my only son and my youngest daughter. Learning how to juggle a successful career and being an involved mom is a difficult task but very rewarding!
What aspect of your job are you most passionate about?
People are my passion. I believe in leading by example. Employees are motivated by observing their leaders provide exemplary care to clients in a compassionate manner. My belief is staff satisfaction directly affects client satisfaction. I am passionate about community education, I believe in empowering people whether it is through praising a caregiver for a job well done or educating clients and families on disease processes and how to cope. I volunteer with the local Heart Society who provides medication assistance and free health screenings for people in the community plagued by heart disease. The people I serve are often more of a blessing to me than I could ever be to them.
I am Making More Possible for our BrightStar Care® clients by…
Allowing Clients to take an active role in their care. This is their life, not mine; we are merely a “buddy” who wants to assist them in maintaining their independence safely and ensuring the highest quality of life possible. We are serving them as well as their families. Albert Einstein said it best when he said, “Only a life lived for others, is a life worth living.”
