Our People
Our people are our greatest asset. From the full spectrum of adult homecare and elder care to childcare and more, the quality services we provide day in and day out would not be possible without the hard work and passion of our dedicated staff. Each member of our team embodies the core values of our business – compassion, integrity, family, excellence, trustworthiness, accountability, and diversity – and strives to make more possible for those in our care.
Kate Loch, RN | Director of Nursing
Kate Loch is BrightStar’s Director of Nursing. She brings to her position a 25-year career that has taken her from private duty nursing to executive level administration and legal nurse consulting.
As a former state medical inspector for the state of Michigan, Kate worked as the ultimate patient advocate, focusing on rigid adherence to regulations at hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living centers and rehabilitation facilities.
She draws upon this quality-focused background to manage BrightStar’s clinical operations in compliance with strict standards and practices set by the Joint Commission, a third party auditor of quality processes and procedures. BrightStar is currently in the process of applying for Joint Commission Accreditation.
In addition to her medical and legal background, Kate is a Certified Geriatric Massage therapist and a Reiki Master.
“I’m interested in the overall well-being of the patient, which means finding ways to decrease anxiety and pain while increasing relaxation,” Kate says. “A gentle massage on top of their medical regimen can often do that.”
At BrightStar, Kate is responsible for recruiting and supervising the highest caliber staff of nurses, nursing assistants and caregivers. She oversees their home care services as well as their on-going in-service training.
Under Kate’s direction, a Registered Nurse opens each client case with a thorough assessment of the client and the home environment and remains actively involved through re-assessments and supervisory visits.
With Kate’s vast nursing and professional knowledge, BrightStar offers a unique set of services to help adult children manage the increasing complexities of caring for their aging parents. These additional services include doctor appointment consultations, home safety evaluations and senior advocate for those in nursing homes.
