After spending nearly 40 years working in the food service industry, most recently as a senior vice president for food service giant Sodexo, Ron retired in 2009. He was faced with the question, “What do I want to do with my life?” His answer required some soul searching – and some research – but he came to the conclusion he wanted to try to make the world a better place for people, and enhance their quality of life.

And in particular, Ron wanted to help the senior community.

Finding the right in-home health care for a loved one can often be a tedious process, but we think our process – and our values and mission – make it easier.

Ron launched BrightStar of Hanover on Assinippi Avenue in Hanover December 2009. The company, the first South Shore franchise of the Chicago-based chain, offers home care for seniors and children with disabilities.

“The senior population is growing,” says Ron. “There’s more and more need for what we are doing.”

BrightStar of Plymouth County offers many services for both skilled and non-skilled care. We can provide:

• Companion care
• Personal care including bathing, dressing, toileting and transferring and ambulation
• Home support like grocery shopping, laundry and light housekeeping
• Skilled care including blood draws and injections, hospice assistance, physical therapy and medication reminders, set-up and administration

“At the end of the day, we’re out there taking care of customers and trying to make a nice experience for them in their homes,” says Ron.
