I had the opportunity and invitation to meet with and interview the owners of BrightStar Care of Huntington Beach, Lori and Biju Kewalram. I was impressed first by their tranquil office complex which communicated both confidence and care. This was fitting, given the fact that they run one of the most respected home care agencies in the Orange County area. While touring the facilities, I noticed that they even had their own dedicated training room for both orientation and ongoing training, giving credence to their slogan "a higher standard of care." The staff were friendly and the nurses competent and helpful. While there, an existing client came by the office simply to meet with one of the owners, Lori, in order to thank her and the team for the amazing job they are doing in providing personalized care at home for his mother. I have never seen that level of openness and transparency and desire to go out of one's way to express gratitude for a service provider. The only explanation I can surmise is that this client felt that Lori and her care team were more like family than a service provider. I then had the chance to sit down with the owners and discuss their reasons for opening a home care agency as well as their vision for the future of care and how they desire to help as many people they possibly can to grow old with dignity and independence in their own homes. One could sense the passion and authenticity during the conversation to be the best option for seniors in Huntington Beach and soon to be Long Beach as well since Lori and Biju plan to open up a new office location within the next month. I came away contemplative and reflecting on the power of friendship and the beauty of a life well-lived.

Katherine is an excellent caregiver. She is very attentive to my needs. She is aware of what is needed to be done from dishes in the sink to sitting down with me have friendly conversation to listen to my struggles in life. She shows agreat deal of compassion for my situation. She has also encouraged me to get outside more. From going to lunch, to just being outside enjoying the fresh air. To taking a drive down the coast to enjoy the beach. I have become very close to her as my caregiver and as someone who cares for me personally. I am so glad to have her in my life. She definitely made my life a lot better. I hope she get the deserved Acknowledgement for here care, compassion, and overall being wonderful. From the moment I contacted BrightStar in a panic, as my mother was being discharged from the hospital, they have done everything they can to make the process smooth and ease our worries. They even went as far as sending the nurse to our home within a few hours from my initial call and had a caregiver start that same evening. My mother needed 24/7 care and they were able to find great caregivers to care for her. Sara is by far our favorite caregiver because of her dependability and her positive approach at building trust and taking the time to listen to my mother's needs. If we could have her come every day, we would be thrilled. Nurse Debbie has also be a great help and communicates with me regularly about my mother's progress and her needs as she recovers.

Or anyone who may want to work with a good caregiving company. My interactions with BrightStar Care down through the years have mostly all been positive, on the up and up, and of a high professional caliber that is difficult to come by these days. They have highly skilled, trained, schooled and experienced nurses and caregivers, who go above and beyond and do their level moral best.

A good friend of mine, Jhi, shared a podcast link about Parkinson's, and I was surprised at how fascinating I found it. With my 86-year-old grandfather in mind, I felt compelled to learn more. The podcast highlighted how music and singing can significantly benefit people with Parkinson's. Hearing Darlene's story ( I am not sure if I spelled her name right) was particularly inspiring. Despite having lived with Parkinson's for 14 years, she remains resilient and motivated, thanks to a strong support system, including Karen. Darlene's experience is a testament to the power of perseverance and the positive impact of music and support in managing Parkinson's. Her story is truly uplifting and serves as a powerful reminder of the strength and hope that can be found even in the face of such challenges.Brightstar care is going above and beyond.
