Administrative Staff

Rolph & Rebecca Blythe, Owners

After almost 10 years living on the east coast, BrightStar Co-owners, Rolph and Rebecca Blythe, came back home to the Twin Cities with their then toddler daughter. The move allowed the couple greater proximity to extended family, and enabled Rebecca to make being a stay at home mom a priority. Several years and two more children later, Rolph and Rebecca opened the Minneapolis SW branch of BrightStar in April of 2011, expanding their focus from caring for their own family to include caring for others’ families.

Rolph holds a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management. He also earned master’s degree in English from the University of St. Thomas.

Prior to opening a BrightStar location Rolph spent fifteen years in the book publishing industry working as an editor, marketing director, literary agent and freelance consultant at different points in his career. A desire to solve problems for his clients through open and honest dialogue is something Rolph has carried with him from one career to another. Rolph says, “To talk to a client about their needs and know that you have the ability to make their lives easier is a great feeling. I feel honored to work with families in this capacity; I’m truly excited to walk in the door every morning.”

Rebecca holds a master’s degree in Educational Psychology from New York University and spent the first part of her career heading the Early Childhood Education program at one of New York City’s top independent schools. Since joining the BrightStar team she has reaffirmed her commitment to helping families across the life span. Whether working with children and families as an educator, caring for her own three young children, or assisting families in need of adult and senior care, Rebecca brings a passion for nurturing people and building quality relationships to her work.

Rebecca says, “The satisfaction and joy I get from watching a relationship bloom between client and caregiver gives me chills. I love that I get to be a part of that solution for people.”

Alyssa Bates, Branch Manager

Alyssa Bates joined the BrightStar team in the fall of 2011.  As the Branch Manager, Alyssa functions as the main point of contact for caregivers and clients in the SW Minneapolis area.  Since graduating from Winona State University in 2008, she has remained active in the fields of administration, human resources and staff management.  Over the last several years she has worked as a scheduler for care based companies specializing in in-home care for adults and children with disabilities. Her interests include hiking, painting and photography.  Alyssa is dedicated to providing the highest quality management services for our staff,
and the clients they care for.

Emily Nyberg, RN, Director of Nursing

“I have always had an interest in caring for others. I began at an early age by volunteering at a nursing home with my maternal grandma. Following in her footsteps, I became a nurse. While in nursing school, I maintained a 4.0 grade point average and was honored to give a speech at graduation. I have 16 years of experience in healthcare. I worked in geriatric-memory care for five years and in home healthcare for 11 years.

Before joining the BrightStar team, I was director of nursing for a home care company that specialized in care for the older adult population and offered homemaker and companionship services and 24-hour and skilled nursing care.

I enjoy giving back to the community through public speaking, which allows me to educate others about health, wellness and disease prevention. One of the best gifts I receive, though, is a smile from a client, which lets me know that the support and care I give is just what is needed. I look forward to exchanging smiles with clients for many years to
come.”

Anne is in the role of Marketing Communications Manager, managing BrightStar’s professional referral partners. Anne has her Bachelor of Science Degree, is a professional speaker and Certified Master Coach. Anne brings over 25 years of marketing, creative design and management experience to BrightStar.
