Our people are our greatest asset. From the full spectrum of adult homecare and elder care to childcare and more, the quality services we provide day in and day out would not be possible without the hard work and passion of our dedicated staff. Each member of our team embodies the core values of our business – compassion, integrity, family, excellence, trustworthiness, accountability, and diversity – and strives to make more possible for those in our care.

Amelia Camat, Operations Manager

Amelia has been promoting patient advocacy and autonomy throughout her nursing career.  Her experience stems from several leadership and nursing roles; from charge nurse in a skilled nursing and rehab facility, to director of resident care in an assisted living faciltiy, and now currently the Operation’s Manager of BrightStar Care of San Mateo.

Her interest in the medical field began when she became the sole caregiver to her widowed mother.  She was quickly exposed to a large interdisciplinary team who took an aggressive approach to eliminating her mother’s stage 3 breast cancer.  The tumor was the size of a baseball on her mother’s right breast.  One month had passed from the time her mother was diagnosed with having breast cancer.  She looked at her mother with pity as she appeared to be alive, but lifeless; skinny, frail, and sad.  Then, the oncology nurse comes in with the sweetest smile and tells Amelia to take a break, puts on the tv for her, and she falls asleep. The devastation of all the changes brought on by the cancer left Amelia exhausted.  She woke up in a panic knowing she wasn’t there for her mother, then realized the oncology nurse never left her mother’s side.   That was the first time she saw her mother laugh and the first time someone else cared for her. She never expected help from a stranger, but was humble, appreciative and reassured a nurse had her mother in her care.

This one compassionate nurse inspired Amelia to strive to make a positive impression in the lives of her clients and their families; enabling the enjoyment of life. Her passion to improve and maintain the quality of life for all has sharpened her ability to lead, instruct, and encourage staff to provide quality, personalized care. Amelia believes the one-on-one interaction BrightStar Care offers, allows every single one of our caregivers the opportunity to enable others to enjoy life again, one client at a time.
