At BrightStar we know selecting a caregiver for your loved one is a very serious decision. That is why we have an industry leading screening process to ensure the person we provide would be welcome in your home. Here are just some of the steps in our long process:
- Federal, State and County background checks
- In office drug screen administered by our staff both initially and ongoing
- State medical certification checks
- Tuberculosis status checks
- Several reference checks
- Personality “fit” screenings
When we meet with you, we will ask for your needs in care and document all the extras like “Mom enjoys word games.” We then match your needs with the skills and personality of our caregivers. We even offered a Guaranteed Match.
Fred and Paul Stefany, Owners
Fred and Paula Stefany are the owners and have poured their dedication to providing great quality personal care into the business. Paula received her Masters in HR from Chapman University and has leveraged some of the lessons she learned from many years of being a Director at St. John Knits. Fred earned his Masters from M.I.T. and is following the work he loved doing as a board member of the Children’s Hospital of Orange County Padrinos and the American Diabetes Association.
Carrie Moore, Director of Nursing
Carrie Moore oversees the plans of care for every customer using her extensive experience as a Director of Nursing throughout San Diego County since 2005. Before her role as a Director of Nursing, Carrie worked in the ER as an RN and ER Director. She is dedicated to providing compassionate care for all BrightStar patients.
Supporting Carrie is Chermaine Arroyo-Schuermann, our Nursing Supervisor. Chermaine has 30 years of nursing experience in the southern California market.
Angela Krakker, Branch Manager
Angela started her career as a U.S. Marine with specialties in Communications and Classified Materials Documentation. After finishing her tour with the Marines, she took her leadership skills to the medical field and became a Medical Assistant, where she spent several years supervising a multi-physician practice focused on Geriatric care and Rehabilitation. She also spent her own time as an Independent Contractor for a Paramedical company, doing in-home medical exams for life & health insurance companies. Eventually, her career path brought her to BrightStar where she has been for several years now. Since joining the BrightStar team she has earned the Certified Senior Advisor Credential and, very recently, completed a degree in Health Information Technology with concentrations in the Electronic Health Record, privacy & security, compliance issues, and medical coding.
Marion Simon, Business Development Manager
Marion leads the sales effort in North San Diego County, covering Carlsbad, Fallbrook, Oceanside and Vista. Marion bring several years of sales experience with a variety of financial and business services.
