Spotlight Caregiver
Sarah Fraze, pediatric/special needs caregiver
Sarah Fraze is one of BrightStar South OC and North SD’s most requested and sought after pediatric/special needs caregivers. Sarah graduated from University of California, Irvine in 2011 and had extensive experience with children as a nanny and babysitter throughout college, as well as training specifically geared towards special needs caregiving.
We managed to catch a few moments with our busy Spotlight Caregiver to ask her a few questions:
How has being a caregiver changed your life?
I am applying this year and hope to enter medical school next fall. In the meantime, I was looking for a job that would be meaningful and allow me to grow. I could not have been happier to find BrightStar. This experience has really inspired me to look into medical specialties involving autistic kids in my future. I have learned a lot about autism during the past months, both from my interaction with the kids and extra reading I have done on the side.
The medical and scientific communities have made such big strides over the past couple of decades and I hope to contribute to the progression of our knowledge of autism.
What do you find most rewarding as a caregiver?
I have made strong bonds with all of “my kids” as they have become a huge part of my life. (And I like to think I have become a big part of theirs)
When you are not preparing for medical school or working as a caregiver, what do you like to do in your free time?
Apart from working with kids my interests include Bikram yoga (hot yoga), hiking, painting, and dancing.
