37 Social Workers and Discharge Planners Attended Thursday's Event at the Atrium in Owings Mills
Using a case study model an 11 person panel from Life Planning Resources spoke on a wide range of topics
focused on healthy and safe aging and dealing with a crisis when it arises. Life Planning Resources is a Maryland non-profit focused on educating the public on the issues of healthy and safe aging and effective planning for aging. The topics covered included: private duty home care, geriatric care management, medication management, home modification, estate planning, financial planning, long term care insurance, funeral planning, real estate planning and move management. The audience was enthusiastic about the value of the information provided and several Social Workers put some of the information to use even before they left the session. One thing that is not commonly known is that many older long term care insurance policies have clauses that void the need for the elimination period if a person moves onto hospice with a terminal diagnosis. A social worker called her client’s spouse and found that in fact, their LTC Insurance policy had such a clause eliminating the need for them to pay for 90 days out of pocket.Learn more about BrightStar Care of Baltimore County - Click HERE
