Lynn Berberich, Owner, is passionate about helping people remain in the comfort and familiarity of their own home.
Lynn came to BrightStar through personal experience.
“My Grandmother passed away at 107. She lived in her own home until she was 95. My Dad had Lewy Body dementia and lived and died at home at the age of 90 with in-home care. My youngest brother died in his late 30’s from cancer but was at home with his family when he passed thanks to home hospice. My mother has stage 6 Alzheimer’s, but as a family we are doing everything we can to keep her safe in her own home.
I got my first degree in Social Work. I then spent more than 25 years in the corporate world, most of it in the Baltimore region. I knew something was missing. Opening BrightStar in 2009 gave me the opportunity I was looking for to help people and provide a valuable service to our community. I receive incredible satisfaction from helping families and clients and I understand what family members are going through trying to figure out what is best for their loved one.
I take great pride in the fact that our office and my team have won a number of national clinical quality awards as well as awards for customer satisfaction. One of our CNA’s won the National Caregiver of the year award. We are always striving to provide a higher standard of care.“
After having a poor experience with home care with my own family, I decided to work for BrightStar Care to help change the industry standard. My goal is to provide and deliver a higher standard of care every day.
My passion is quality care – ensuring that our clients get the best possible care and that our team is well trained and supported in delivering that promise. I am emphatic about personal centered care and that each person receives a customized plan of care to meet his or her needs. I strive for flexibility to ensure that we are meeting the individual care needs of each family. I am an advocate for families to find the best possible solutions.
I continually educate myself on new resources available within the community and how BrightStar Care can partner to utilize these resources for the needs of our clients and their families. Seniors inspire me every day and I am fortunate to have the opportunity to make a difference.
I have been a successful, results driven manager for multiple organizations ranging from fortune 500 to entrepreneurial companies. I worked for BrightStar Corporate Store outside Chicago as VP of Sales and Operations for six years. I developed several best practices on a National level. I worked at another BrightStar location in Illinois for 1.5 years.
I bring 30 years diverse experience within sales, marketing & operations in a variety of disciplines. I received my Certified Senior Advisor Certificate in 2010 and received my Bachelors of Science degree in Psychology and Chemistry from the University of WI, Eau Claire.
In this role Heidi coordinates with Long Term Care Insurance companies. She has a BS in Psychology with a concentration in Gerentology. She is currently enrolled in a Masters of Social Work program. Heidi brings to BrightStar 12 years of experience in senior care, filling every role imaginable from direct hands on patient care to Business Office Coordinator at an Assisted Living. Heidi likes working at BrightStar because it allows her to make an impact on the life of others. Heidi is known for going that extra step the ensure customer satisfaction and comfort for those we serve. She always takes the time to listen to any requests, questions, or concerns no matter how big or small at any time of the day or night. She is the person to contact with anyy billing questions.
Lavone Koyier, Manager of Recruiting and Customer Care
Lavone manages our customer care managers and recruiting. She has worked at Brightstar since 2014. Lavone is a graduate from UMBC with a bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration. Lavone’s previous experience included working as a CNA. Prior to working for Brightstar Lavone had managerial experience in the paper Industry. What Lavone finds most rewarding about the act of caregiving is the relationships that you develop along the way. Lavone says that "having close relationships and showing kindness towards her clients" was her most rewarding experience working as a caregiver. Lavone enjoys working for Brightstar because she loves the Brightstar family as well as getting to know the clients and the clients’ families. Knowing that BrightStar can provide quality care for someone's loved one and that we can help improve quality of life. Lavone handles customer service issues.
Khari Knox, Recruiter/Human Resoures
Khari is from Baltimore, MD. He began his career in the Hospitality Industry working for various hotels in the downtown Baltimore area. He worked in the front office, accounting, sales and eventually Human Resources. Khari is enrolled at Strayer University pursuing a Bachelors in Marketing. He is proud of the opportunity to work for the Brightstar Care Baltimore City/County family. He loves interviewing new people and telling them about the great opportunities at BrightStar. “I love that BrightStar is so focused on delivering great customer service. That helps me love what I do as the Recruiter. I want to make sure our applicants and employees get the same great customer service that we deliver to our clients. Customer Service is not something we do, it is who we are.” During his spare time he is very involved in his church and I also mentor young men to become “great” young men and coaches football.
David has lived in the Reisterstown, MD his entire life. Prior to BrightStar he worked for a Physical Therapy clinic in Pikesville as a PT tech. He recently graduated from University of Maryland, Baltimore County with a Bachelor’s in Health Administration Public Policy, with a focus on public health. His favorite moments are when he receives a call or email from one of our client’s family members stating how thankful they are and how much BrightStar has helped them and their loved one. He loves seeing the reactions our nurses and CNAs get when they receive such glowing feedback from their clients and their families.
David’s secret passion is his love for dogs. He has four rescue beagles and also volunteers at his local Humane Society.
I have lived in the Baltimore area my entire life. I retired from a sales career in the printing industry to care for my husband. After my husband passed away I needed to stay active and I came to BrightStar, part-time, to help others. I answer the phone and I greet everyone that walks into the office. When they call I try to be polite, kind and supportive to: our client, our client’s families, our employees and our business partners.
I love meeting and greeting new people. The front desk at BrightStar is a busy place and provides a steady stream of potential client inquiries and new employee candidates and keeps me excited about meeting and helping new people every day.
