Tynisha Mosley-Bates, BSN
How long have you been a Nurse? I have been an RN for 10 years. I attended the University of Maryland School of Nursing where I earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. I was the first person in my family to earn a professional degree.
What experience do you bring to BrightStar Care®? Prior to working for Brightstar, I worked at Howard General Hospital for five years in the medical surgery unit, surgical telemetry, and the orthopedic surgery unit where I gained a wide range of knowledge about post-operative rehabilitation. I worked for Brightstar as a field nurse doing skilled visits prior to accepting the position of Assistant Director of Nursing. I was promoted from Assistant Director of Nursing to the role of Director of Nursing in 2016. I am also the mother of 3 teenagers and can relate to families and the stree of dealing with challenging behaviors.
What aspect of your job are you most passionate about? My true passion is quality of care. I want each and every one of our clients to receive incredible care. I was incredibly honored when in my first year as a DON BrightStar Baltimore City/County won the BrightStar National award for Clinical Excellence. One of the main reasons I moved to homecare is the opportunity to create on-going relationships with clients and their families. I love helping clients stay in the comfort of their own home and I get great satisfaction from helping family members navigate the challenges of caring for aging family members. My joy comes from fostering close relationships with clients and families and helping them figure out what is best for their loved one. I love learning new things and coaching others. Every day at BrightStar I learn something new.

Overall I am most passionate about delivering quality care in a manner that is individualized to meet the needs of my clients while helping them to remain in their homes where life stories and memories were created. I love working with clients with dementia and helping families provide their loved ones quality care. I ensure that my patients received person centered care. I develop very individualized care plans through the development and maintenance of close relationships with them and their families. Ultimately it is on my shoulders to make sure we are maintaining the highest clinical standards and complying with all Joint Commission guidelines. I am out in the field most of the time visiting clients and our caregivers and I want our clients to always be receiving wonderful care and our staff to hold to the highest clinical standards. I also supervise our field nurses and help make sure our infusions, IVIG home infusions, pediatric care and wound care is the best in the industry. I am a member of the National Infusion Nurses Society and a member of the local chapter.
2018 NATIONAL NURSE OF THE YEAR AWARD
In March Tynisha won the North East Regional Nurse of the Year Award. The National Award was announced on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at the BrightStar Branch Leadership Conference. Tyisha was recognized for her leadership and providing the highest standard of quality care. Her husband was in the audience at the awards ceremony and her three teen age children were cheering her on nearby watching the ceremony in her hotel room via Dad's phone and live video chat. Each of the Regional winners had a compelling story and were clearly outstanding nurses. BrightStar has more than 300 locations and employs over 5,000 nurses nationwide.
