Karen Pinderski | President and Owner
Karen Pinderski, new President and Owner of BrightStar Care® of Barrington and McHenry County, has extensive healthcare experience at Abbott Laboratories, PharMEDium Healthcare, and Pfizer. Home care services and medical staffing services align with her prior work and passion for improving patient safety in medical settings such as Intensive Care Units. Karen holds patents for intravenous infusion labeling and packaging innovations to help reduce medication errors. In her free time, Karen is a soccer enthusiast and the happy care giver of her mom, Avelina. Karen has a BA and MA from the University from Wisconsin, Milwaukee and MBA from Northwestern Kellogg Graduate School of Management.
Gina Maki | BSN, RN, Director of Nursing
Gina Maki is our Director of Nursing. With over 30 years of healthcare experience, Gina understands the continuum of care, including the many situations where a health diagnosis doesn’t need to take you from your home or community. In her leadership role, Gina meets with clients, advocates with a personal touch when needed, and provides clinical oversight of every case. She heads our expert care team of RNs, Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Certified Nurse Assistants (CNAs), and others, strongly believing training and mentoring are key to clinical success. Gina is known for demonstrating a great deal of compassion, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, particularly in the most traumatic situations when strong emotional stability from an expert RN is a must. Gina is a leader of maintaining the unmatched care standards of our organization validated by The Joint Commission accreditation. Our accreditation is to the same high quality standards as the best hospitals in the country.
Prior to joining our team, Gina distinguished herself in leadership roles specializing in Congestive Heart Failure (CHF), mentoring nursing students, and as a Director of Nursing in a 92 bed facility. Gina is an active member of the Infusion Nursing Society and is on the advisory board of Clearbrook Choice Program serving individuals with Intellectual Developmental Disabilities. Gina earned her BSN from Northern Michigan University.
Rachel Jankowski | Relationship Manager
Rachel Jankowski is our Relationship Manager. She is in the community daily meeting with clients and their families to discuss private duty home care. No question is too big or small. She listens carefully so complicated care requirements and goals are understood. When care begins, Rachel is there to make an introduction between the Certified Nursing Assistant and client, providing the highest level personal attention. Compatibility is guaranteed. Rachel also partners with organizations and businesses to bring medical staffing to the community. She worked in healthcare in assisted living and memory care communities, adult day care, subacute rehab, and skilled nursing facilities. Rachel earned her BA in Health and Human Physiology and a Certificate in Aging Studies at the University of Iowa. In her free time, she enjoys baking and practicing yoga.
Jeff Peters | Director of Operations and Human Resources
Jeff Peters is the Director of Operations and Human Resources. Jeff is integral to the stability and growth of our business. He oversees the day-to-day operations of our private duty home care services for families and medical staffing services for hospitals, nursing homes, schools, and other businesses. With 12 years of healthcare experience, he has a holistic mindset that is focused on quality, exceptional service, and recruitment of professionals using strict screening criteria. Jeff is leading the integration of mobile systems which provide clients assurance their caregiver will always be on time, payments and invoicing are headache-free, and care is delivered to the highest standard. During his free time, Jeff plays an essential role on the Board of Directors of GiGi’s Playhouse, a community outreach non-profit for families who have children with Down Syndrome and developmental needs in McHenry County.
Judy Boyle | Specialty Billing and Administration
Judy Boyle is our Specialty Billing and Administration lead. She is an expert in aiding veterans and seniors with meeting their care needs while staying in their homes doing what they love. Judy has been with BrightStar Care® for 9 years focused on client scheduling, staffing, specialty billing, and ensuring a welcoming culture of caring. Prior to joining the team, she had an Equestrian business for 40 years. She is active in the community, including as recent President of Algonquin and Lake in the Hills Chamber of Commerce. Her experience provides her a unique perspective of how to navigate what can be confusing care alternatives for seniors. Judy’s commitment to guide clients to the right care, at the right time and right place shines through in everything she does. When she’s not working, Judy is still very involved with the equestrian world.
