Normal Aging vs. Not Normal Aging Workshop

March 31, 2021
Brookdale Potomac presented a wonderful training workshop presented by Michael Tubbs entitled, “Normal Aging/Not Normal Aging” and caregivers from Brightstar Care of Montgomery County attended.  The workshop included an overview of aging and various cognitive functions related to dementia.  Participants engaged their senses with some exercises to point out how senses influence our understanding of our environment and learned ways to recognize and intervene effectively when behavioral challenges occur.  This Positive Approach to Care program from www.teepashow.com  shared useful tips and helping behaviors related to the five sensory input and processing systems as dementia progresses.  The videos of Teepa Snow included in the program were clever, funny and engaging and we appreciate Brookdale Potomac for including our caregivers in the training.
