As families in the local area of Wake, Durham, Harnett, Chatham, and Johnston Counties are impacted by the aging of parents and grandparents, while raising their own children, BrightStar Care® of Cary wants to be recognized as the premier resource to provide support for those families to help get through the trials and tribulations of aging parents and grandparents.

Owners John and Lori Kemeny are committed to continuing to maintain a solid foundation to ensure BrightStar Care® of Cary is positioned well in the community and can provide support for those who choose to work with us as a provider.

John retired from IBM after 30 years of project and program management and wanted a change in personal mission to work on a more personal basis to help others and focus on family.  He was instrumental in building the vision and foundation of BrightStar Care of Cary from non-existence to a reputable, established home care agency for those needing home care/skilled nursing in their homes.  Lori worked as an executive level recruiter for over 15 years and is a native of the Cary area (graduated from Cary High School and North Carolina State University).  She desired a change in personal mission to focus on family, as well, and wanted to continue to provide service to the local community. As a home care agency owner, Lori brings a unique skill set to the organization to carefully screen, identify and ensure BrightStar Care of Cary is only providing top caregivers to clients. Through personal experience, Lori understands the importance of caring for loved ones and ensuring the care provided is reliable and meets a higher standard.  With losing her mother to breast cancer at the age of nineteen and caring for her father, who suffered several strokes, Lori, quickly got a glimpse of the challenges that families suffer every day with few options that provide the level of care that BrightStar Care of Cary guarantees.  Outside of BrightStar Care of Cary, Lori and John are also involved with the Jr. Carolina Hurricanes Hockey League.  Their 14-year-old son plays for the 14U Bantam AA hockey team which requires the Kemenys to travel most weekends from early September through the end of February to cheer on the Jr. Carolina Hurricanes!  Along with their son, they also share 3 daughters (ages 27, 25 and 4!)

Laura Payton RN, BSN | Director of Nursing

How long have you been a nurse?

I have been an RN for 15 years, but received my BSN this past fall from Purdue University Global with Summa Cum Laude Honors.  I began my nursing experience as an LPN in a pediatric clinic, but after obtaining my RN in 2005, I transferred to Mother Baby and a Level II NICU.  In 2007, I decided to commute 92 miles one way to work in a Level I Magnet PICU for 7 years.  During that time, we had two children, Isabelle Grace (7) and Macie Margaret (5).  After 7 years of commuting, I came back to our local hospital to work in the Interventional Radiology Department as an RN and spearhead their CT Low Dose Lung Screening Program.  In 2016, our family moved to Holly Springs, NC, for my husband’s career with John Deere.  Prior to the move, we lived our entire life in the state of Iowa, I grew up in a small town that was less than 700 people.

What experience do I bring to Brightstar Care?

Throughout my years as a nurse, I have worked mostly in pediatrics and the ICU, but have also provided leadership in areas to improve patient outcomes and taught/mentored nursing students throughout their clinical portion of nursing school.  I also spearheaded a CT Low Dose Lung Screening Program, researched other successful programs and garnered support from Physicians' offices necessary for start-up, and organized data collection at the inception of the program. I also sought out opportunities to create change that enhanced standards of care such as developing a Pediatric PICC line team and wrote a policy to guide nursing practice.  In 2011, I was a recipient of the Daisy Award, an award for Extraordinary Nursing Care at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital.  As I have transitioned away from the bedside, I have enjoyed looking for ways to implement new ideas that will enhance the quality of care we provide to our clients.

What aspect of your job are you most passionate about?

I am excited to reach out to the community and educate them on the services Brightstar of Cary has to offer. Caring for loved ones can be challenging and time constraining for the working caregiver.  We all need assistance caring for our family and I wish a Brightstar Agency would have been near my Grandpa three years ago to assist my dad in caring for him, as my dad was working full time on the farm.  At Brightstar we are here to step in and provide safe and compassionate care. I also look forward to extending our infusion services, as at home infusions offer a safe and cost-effective alternative compared to in-patient hospital infusions and allows for our nurses to treat clients of any age in the comfort of their home.   At home infusion services allow for clients and their families to maintain their normal daily activities.

I provide a higher standard of care for our clients by?

To provide a higher standard of care for our clients, I want to engage with our staff and implement new ideas that will enhance quality client care.  When our caregivers or nurses become engaged, they are more likely to go the extra mile to ensure safe, competent and compassionate care is given.  As your director of Nursing, I want to lead with a transformational leadership style where I plan to inspire, encourage and evoke new traditions or learning opportunities for all our staff.

I provide A Higher Standard of Care for our BrightStar Care® clients by... Ensuring that clients are safe and happy, families are satisfied with our services, and that clients are cared for holistically. I am driven to provide excellent customer service and reliable quality care._INS_Logo_200wide If you have questions about how RN oversight works at BrightStar of NC - Cary, or if want to speak with our Director of Nursing, please call us at (919) 535-6787.
