Jim Flickinger | Owner, Agency Administrator After attending Wheaton Graduate School I spent 24+ years here locally as a Marketing/Sales Executive for a specialty engineering firm. A softening economy started my search for an opportunity to run a small business. When Judy and I heard about BrightStar, we decided it was a perfect opportunity to help families, create jobs, and establish a business in this growing industry right here in our hometown area of DuPage-Wheaton.
Judy Flickinger RN | Retired Director of Nursing and Co-Founder Retired Director of Nursing, Judy Flickinger, RN, has over 30 years nursing experience in hospital and medical office settings. Judy has a strong background in pediatrics health care. She provides case management skills for the various Home Nursing clients our agency serves. This includes performing initial and ongoing needs assessments, developing care plans and case supervision. She also provides clinical direction for the agency and oversees our caregiving staff hiring process.
Jonathan Gray | Director of Operations I graduated from Bethel University with a BA in Political Science in 1984. My interests have always been in serving others. I volunteered for 9 years with the Geneva Emergency Services and Disaster Agency with a final rank of First Lieutenant. During this time I began working in sales and moved into management. Eventually I had the opportunity to become part owner of a company in Chicago where I stayed for 13 years. I had my first exposure to Brightstar as a client. My wife and I were caregiving for her parents who were both on hospice. We used Brightstar to enable us to get some rest at night. The opportunity to join Brightstar’s Staff in Wheaton was an exciting prospect when offered. I am motivated each day by knowing I’ve had the opportunity to serve and “Make More Possible” for someone in need.
Diane Thorson RN, MSN | Director of Nursing & Compliance
Prior to arriving at BrightStar, I was responsible for departmental analysis related to productivity, staff process improvement and client satisfaction resulting in improved patient outcomes. This required a restructuring of all internal processes and direct involvement in process improvement initiatives to increase Home Health Compare and Customer Satisfaction Scores. I possess experience in annual budget processes, as a field staff member and direct supervisory clinical roles. Today, I bring my extensive regulatory knowledge and compliance with process improvement to take positive patient outcomes to the next level of clinical care from BrightStar to your home and/or facility. I am most passionate about family-centered care and the concept of ‘aging in place’ and I love the fact that I am able to make a significant difference in the lives of clients by helping them stay safe and healthy wherever they reside.
Phebe Johnson RN | RN Case Manager After attending Wheaton College and graduating from Indiana State University, I worked as an RN for 38 years in hospital, college, and home care settings in the areas of med/surg, epidemiology, and hospice. BrightStar’s commitment to their clients, coupled with their innovative and creative business ideas, makes BrightStar a wonderful fit for me.
