Diane Thorson, BSN, MSN
DIRECTOR OF CLINICAL COMPLIANCE
How long have you been a Nurse?
I have been a Registered Nurse for over 25 years after graduating from Valparaiso University with a BSN and Loyola University with a MSN.
My key industry contributions, in addition to hospital and agency nursing, include:
- Clinical Director roles within Home Health and Private Duty organizations
- Pediatric Clinical Specialist and Instructor
- Nurse Clinician in Mineral Metabolism/Nephrology at Lurie Children’s Hospital
- Aging in place speaker to various audiences and facilities
What experience do you bring to BrightStar Care®?
Prior to arriving at BrightStar, I was responsible for departmental analysis related to productivity, staff process improvement and client satisfaction resulting in improved patient outcomes.
This required a restructuring of all internal processes and direct involvement in process improvement initiatives to increase Home Health Compare and Customer Satisfaction Scores.
I possess experience in annual budget processes, as a field staff member and direct supervisory clinical roles.
Today, I bring my extensive regulatory knowledge and compliance with process improvement to take positive patient outcomes to the next level of clinical care from BrightStar to your home and/or facility.
What aspect of your job are you most passionate about?
I am most passionate about family-centered care and the concept of ‘aging in place’ and I love the fact that I am able to make a significant difference in the lives of clients by helping them stay safe and healthy wherever they reside.
I provide A Higher Standard of Care for our BrightStar Care® clients by...
Educating our staff on the best practices, policies and procedures to take BrightStar to the next level of positive patient outcomes.
I will oversee the performance key clinical metrics for BrightStar.
This ensures care provided meets regulatory standards e.g. The Joint Commission and Illinois Department of Public Health.
