Mild Cognitive Impairment may not be Dementia

When Charlotte Seniors’ illustrate symptoms that aren’t dementia, but not normal, it could be MCI
If a Charlotte Senior has memory issues, or their mental functions seem “off” don’t assume they have dementia Memory issues can be caused by mild cognitive impairment (MCI). “It causes memory and thinking problems beyond what’s normal for older adults and affects 10 – 15% of seniors.   Mild cognitive impairment (MCI) is a middle stage between the occasional forgetfulness of normal aging and the serious cognitive decline of dementia.

MCI can cause problems with memory, language, thinking, and judgment.  People with MCI have a higher risk of developing dementia. About 1 – 2% of seniors develop dementia every year. Among seniors with MCI, about 10 – 15% develop dementia every year.”
