Kim’ Selph, RN, BrightStar Care® Director of Nursing
How long have you been a nurse?
I have been a Registered Nurse since 1991. I dreamed of being a nurse at an early age. I would find myself reenacting my grandmothers’ day in her life as a nurse. I wanted to be just like her. I started out as a Candy Striper, after receiving an Associates Degree in Accounting I returned to school to become a RN while living in Buffalo NY.
What expertise and experience do you bring to BrightStar Care?
My career path has taken me across health care settings. While in the hospital setting, I focused on Emergency Care, Intensive Care, Pre & Post Surgery. After leaving the hospital setting in 2011 my focus has been Home Clinical Management and Home Health Services. During my 28 years of nursing, over 20 have been in management in the above settings.
What part of your job are you most passionate about?
I’m passionate about being an advocate for clients and their families. I believe in putting the patient’s well-being and safety first. What are three unique strengths you bring
to BrightStar Care?
1. I love to teach and help each caregiver reach their professional best while working smarter not harder to provide quality care.
2. I have over 12 years working in the home care setting.
3. I love meeting clients, listening to their stories and assisting them to stay as independent as possible in their homes
