BrightStar Earns the Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of
Approval for Accreditation
Chesapeake, VA, May 13, 2013 – BrightStar has earned The Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval® by demonstrating compliance with The Joint Commission’s national standards for health care quality and safety in home care. The accreditation award recognizes BrightStar’s dedication to continuous compliance with The Joint Commission’s state of the art standards. The Joint Commission, an independent, not-for-profit organization, is the nation's oldest and largest standards-setting and accrediting body in health care. Their Home Care Accreditation Program, which was established in 1988, accredits more than 5,600 organizations. The Joint Commission's standards address the home care organization's performance in specific areas, and specify requirement to ensure that patient care and services are provided in a safe manner, its standards are developed in consultation with health care experts, providers and researchers, as well as measurement experts, purchasers and consumers.
The Joint Commission evaluated BrightStar’s infection prevention and control, leadership and medication management and found they were compliant with The Joint Commissions state of the art standards. With this accreditation, BrightStar will now be recognized for its higher standards of care which will instill confidence in the community it serves as well as move the organization to the next level of excellence.
