Evanne Covino, BA. BSN. RN, is the Nurse Supervisor at our BrightStar Care office that serves Fairfield County, Norwalk, and the Bridgeport areas in Connecticut. Evanne is also the 2015 Northeast Region Nurse of the Year!
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN IN HEALTHCARE?
I received my BA in Psychology from Pennsylvania State University in 1981. My BS in Nursing was obtained from The College of New Rochelle in 1998. I have been in health care for 15 years. For the past 10 years I have been in home care. The first agency that I was with was a Medicare agency where I learned so much about the needs of the elderly and how necessary home care really is. As our needs change as we age, it is vital that there is a resource for the elderly where they can get the care that they need, the monitoring that they need, and referrals for resources that are invaluable as we age.
WHAT EXPERIENCE DO YOU BRING TO BRIGHTSTAR CARE?
My experience as a visiting nurse in this area enables me to educate our clients as to what resources are available to them, the difference between a Medicare agency and a private duty home care agency like BrightStar, and extensive teaching points to enable our seniors to be aware of any signs or symptoms that may come up either for themselves of a loved one, where it would be necessary to seek medical help or a nursing visit.
WHAT ASPECT OF YOUR JOB ARE YOU MOST PASSIONATE ABOUT?
My passion for nursing shows itself when I am able to educate my clients with tips and hints so that they can better manage their own health. Some of our clients had never thought of organizing their medication in a medication box, prepared for the week to alleviate any med errors. Others had never heard of the signs or symptoms of a urinary tract infection or dehydration which are the two main cause of falls in this country. I am very passionate about the care we provide for our clients and in offering our clients the knowledge, we, BrightStar, stand out from other health care companies.
I AM MAKING MORE POSSIBLE FOR OUR BRIGHTSTAR CARE CLIENTS BY…
