Is There A Volcano In Your Future?

May 18th, 2016

On May 18 at 8:32 a.m. a 5.1-magnitude earthquake and eruption rocked Mt. St. Helen. The north side of the peak blasted out ash at 650 miles per hour. A cloud of ash, rocks, gas and glacial ice roared down the side of the mountain at 100 mph. Fourteen miles of the Toutle River were buried up to 150 feet deep in the debris. Magma, at 1,300 degrees Fahrenheit, flowed for miles.
Although the magnitude of the eruption was a surprise the event to scientists was inevitable. Seismic activity was recorded on March 16,23,24 and 27. An eruption occurred on March 27. Volcanologist observed a bulge getting larger throughout April.  One of those claiming this was volcanologist David Johnston who was camping on Coldwater Ridge, only a few miles north of Mt. St. Helens. When the eruption occurred that morning Johnston radioed the USGS base and exclaimed "Vancouver, Vancouver, this is it!" Although miles away Johnson was unable to avoid it's path of devastation.

When we look back at some health related events in our lives we say it was inevitable.

Many times there are warning signs before a crisis that are ignored. Give BrightStar a call and put a plan in place before an “eruption occurs.”
