Egons Plavnieks: Owner
Egons Plavnieks is co-Owner of Bright Star Care Gaithersburg/Darnestown. Egons is a graduate of Catholic University and the University of Wisconsin - Madison, with degrees in Music and Business. He has thirty years of executive experience working with Procter & Gamble both in the U.S. and internationally. Egons chose to open a Home Care agency along with his wife Anda as a result of personal experience. He saw the challenges faced by families in supporting their loved ones as they become less and less able to live fully independently as he and Anda cared for his mom and other family members. Egons and Anda are the proud parents of a 14 year old son, and they live in the Montgomery County area.
Anda Plavnieks: Owner
Anda Plavnieks is the Owner of Bright Star Care Gaithersburg/Darnestown, Maryland. She has nearly 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry and therefore sets high standards in the performance of our field staff inside our client’s homes. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration. Anda chose to open a Home Care agency because of her own personal experiences caring for her grandmother, mother, and aunt. She understands what families are facing as their loved ones age and can no longer live completely independently. Anda is married and has one son, aged 14, and lives in the Montgomery County area.
Kim Martindell : Director of Nursing
Born and raised in Washington, DC. Kelly attended Old Dominion University in Virginia. Kelly has worked in many aspects in nursing. She worked in post surgical hospital unit before becoming a Triage nurse in a local seniors community in Silver Spring, Md. She found that working with seniors in the community a special calling. She attended many continuing education courses Dementia/ memory care and Seniors Safely Aging in the home setting. Kerry Swift: Community Outreach Manager
I came to BrightStar Care having worked in sales and account management at IBM for thirty years. I developed a passion for elder care after personally experiencing the challenges of caring for an elderly family member. I resolved to pursue a second career where I could “make a difference” in people’s lives. I believe in the concept of aging in place and hope to help the elderly achieve this by providing best in class home care services to families in Montgomery County. I spend most of my time meeting clients, both potential and current. In addition to reaching out to new families and facilities, I continue my relationship with all of my clients & families by providing on-going case management support.
Amanda Vieira: Branch Manager
I have a Degree in Social Work/ also licensed as An Assisted Living Administrator in Maryland. I have worked as an Associate Executive Director in a Senior Living Community for 13 years. My goal is to ensure that the resident’s quality of life is of the best by giving great services to our clients. Expecting high quality performance from our team members. My Professional expertise that is most beneficial - Great leadership, communication and organizational skills. Strengths of others which helps benefits the service we provide to our residents/clients. I am decisive, patient, and respectful, and enjoy coaching/teaching what I have already learned.
Vicki Pollack: Scheduling Manager
My role as Scheduling Manager is to schedule the nursing assistants (CNA’s) based on the individual client’s needs. I have over 14 years’ experience scheduling medical resources including physicians and physician assistants for emergency departments, and hospitalist, both pediatric and internal medicine. In addition, I have scheduled Nurse Practitioners, RN’s, LPN’s and CNA’s for various shift work. I chose BrightStar because it enables me to assist families through challenging times. I enjoy working with families to ensure that each family gets the best possible care and service.
Hannah Kebede: Administrator
Hannah is a May 2016 graduate from Washington College with a BA in Psychology and Sociology. Studying those subjects now helps her to understand BrightStar Care’s clients, their families, and their caregivers. She started out as an intern in March, and went full time as an administrator in June. While she is mostly in charge of sending invoices to customers and long term care insurance companies, and the new ABS Mobile rollout, she also does filing, organization, and helps out with scheduling. Her favorite thing about working at BrightStar Care is all the interesting clients, caregivers, and office staff she has communicated with, each with their own unique experiences, perspectives, and stories to tell.
