In Home Care Can Make Home A Viable Scottsdale Senior Housing Option

About 90% of seniors plan to live in their current homes for the next 5 to 10 years, according to the United States of Aging Survey. BankRate.com recently published an article exploring senior housing options, including aging in place at home. This can be a good option for seniors, but it's important to recognize the need to adapt the home for safety: "First and foremost, consider the kitchen and bath," the article states. "For instance, look at modifying the cabinets to make them easy to reach. Keep the microwave in a low spot so items can easily be removed after heating, and widen clearances to allow space for a walker or crutches. Handrails and an entry level shower in the bath can help as well."
Sure, your own home is a viable senior housing option and not just for independent seniors in good health. With the help of home care agencies like BrightStar Care, the elderly can receive the care and support they need to remain in the comfort and familiarity of their home. BrightStar Care CEO and Co-Founder Shelly Sun weighed in on the different levels of service, from basic companionship to personal care, which includes "activities of daily living such as bathing, grooming, feeding and ambulation."
