Frank Sanders President / Owner Frank has a degree in economics from Bowling State University in Ohio and an MBA in Finance from Michigan State University. He is an entrepreneur who founded The Fitness Store in Dayton, Ohio and grew it for 22 years before selling the company. He also taught entrepreneurship at the university level. In February 2015, Frank acquired Brightstar Care of Greenville/Spartanburg and Brightstar Care of Polk County North Carolina. He is a hands-on owner who personally makes sure that day-to-day operations are up to very high standards as well making the long-range plans necessary to support quality care as the Upstate and the company grow. Frank is married (See Billie Sanders, Director of HR) and they have one grown daughter residing in San Francisco and one daughter who just graduated from College of Charleston.
Ruth Boineau Director of Nursing Ruth has been a nurse since 1980 and started her career in health care as a candystiper at 14 and Caregiver at 16. She received her LPN while still in high school and studied at a Medical Center for her RN. Ruth has been certified as a Palliative and Hospice care Nurse and has worked in Emergency Nursing, Long Term Care, Home Health and Private Duty Pediatrics. She is passionate about providing exceptional personalized care to each of our clients. It is her honor to advocate for our BrightStar clients and families, as well as being a mentor and leader to our caregivers. Ruth is married to her husband Charles. They have 6 children and 3 grandchildren. They enjoy music and camping with their 3 dogs.
Lynn Taylor Operations Management Lynn has called Spartanburg County home since she was born. Her 18 years of field experience as an in-home caregiver give her great insight into what takes to deliver quality care. She joined Brightstar Care in May 2016. She has served many roles including Field Specialist, Client Care Manager, and Recruiting. Lynn lives on a 36-acre farm and loves the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and gardening. She loves to spend time with her family and especially loves to be with her 4 grandchildren.
Sandra Colon Client Care Manager After 14 years in food management, Sandra decided to go back to school in the Medical field for a change of career. After joining BrightStar in 2016, she was quickly elevated from Caregiver to Field Specialist using her unique abilities to help design and manage direct client care. Shortly thereafter she was promoted to her current role of Client Care Manger, where she directs the activities of over 75 Caregivers. Sandra was born in Puerto Rico and moved many times with her father serving in the military. She is the mother of three, and she and her husband Angel live in Boiling Springs.
Billie Sanders Director of H.R. It takes a certain kind of person to join the field of in-home care and so excellence in Human Resources is mission-critical. Billie is responsible for talent recruitment and hiring, on boarding, employee engagement projects, continuing education and wellness coaching. She is passionate about living a healthy lifestyle as well as encouraging others to “thrive and not just survive”. She is a former college professor and served as Chairperson of Exercise, Wellness and Sport Science. In addition to working in the field of Human Resources, Billie is also a Nia and Pilates Instructor.
Adam Sanders Community Outreach Specialist Greenville Adam joined BrightStar Care in 2017 and has a degree in communications from Cornerstone University, Grand Rapids, Michigan. Adam has been in the health care industry for 14 years, founding his own Medicare company in 2005 as well as 2 years in the hospice industry. As a financial adviser for 6 years, Adam has a keen understanding of client financial options. Adam has two daughters, Lilly and Cora, and enjoys golf, camping and traveling.
Suzanne Beam Community Outreach Specialist, Spartanburg. Suzanne is a Clemson graduate and has been in a variety of customer service roles over the past 30 years. She has a passion for helping others, particularily Senior Citizens, in part due to a very close relationship with her grandparents. Her husband is Jeff and they have five children and four grandchildren between them. They live on a small farm in Chesnee, SC.
Walt Karczewski Compliance Management. Walt was raised near Pittsburgh PA, and after studying art education for two years, went on to achieve an Electronics Degree from Penn Technical Institute. This led Walt to a position at General Motors of Michigan where he worked and retired from after 36 years at their Emissions Laboratory. Walt's keen understanding of process flow led to his current career in compliance management. Walt's hobbies are golfing, fishing and hunting, and his passions include his church ministry and a commitment to giving his time to help those in need. He and his wife Donna have two sons and 5 grandchildren.
Donna Karczewski RN CRRN BA (Home Care) Donna is a Certified Rehabilitation Nurse specializing in Traumatic brain injury. She has over 40 years of wide-ranging experience including long-term care, psychiatric care and in-home care. She taught nurse aides as a former Adjunct Nurse Educator at Mott Community College and Baker Community College in Michigan. Donna does initial assessments at Brightstar Care and provides detailed plans of care. She has been a case manager for 15 years and loves working with families. She is passionate about nursing and community involvement. She and her husband live in Greer.
Tina Craig RN (Professional/Skilled Services)
Tina is originally from The Upstate and attended USC Spartanburg. She has over 20 years of experience and as an infusion nurse she is a specialist at in-home I.V. She’s married with 2 children and 3 grandchildren. She loves the outdoors and has “lots of land” which she and her husband share with 9 dogs, 15 cats, 3 miniature horses, 2 birds and a hedgehog. She favors unwanted animals acquired through animal rescue.
