“My parents had been in independent living at the Cascades for a little over a year when it became apparent that Dad needed help with his medications. I was referred to Brightstar by the Cascades management.

From the first meeting with their Director of Nursing, I felt completely at home. I felt secure that my Dad’s needs would be met. Everything was handled professionally yet compassionately. Having a pharmacist who oversaw his medications with the doctors was a godsend!

Every caretaker, nurse and driver took excellent care of my Dad, and later my Mom, too. They have become members of our family as well as valued care-givers.” –  Catherine H.

“After taking care of my mother on the weekends by letting her stay with us, I realized that I needed to do more to help Mom. We first started by letting some nice ladies stay with her at night and through most of the day. However, we put Mom at risk because we did not have anyone there after 5 PM until 10 PM.One day, she fell down and knocked her head either on the table or the hearth. She didn’t complain, we just noticed it that weekend. I knew then we needed help. So, since August of 2012, I have used BrightStar to be with Mom. She has Alzheimer’s and needs 24 hour care now. Mom isn’t too far from passing on, and when she does I will at least know that I tried to do what I could to make her life as full as possible to the end. My job is to provide the best care I can for Mom until she has 24 hour care by the Lord. I know Mom is going to die soon. I also know Mom has the best treatment I can give her. It’s not an institutional setting. It’s her home. It’s not a bunch of nameless faces taking care of her. It’s regular caregivers who treat my Mom like it was their Mom. BrightStar may not be perfect, but they far surpass the others. Just knowing they have a full-time Director of Nursing on their staff that I can call anytime about Mom’s care is a tremendous advantage. She isn’t on retainer, but a full-time employee of BrightStar. My heartfelt  thanks for taking care of Mom goes out to the entire team of BrightStar in the Greenville-Spartanburg area.” – Melody W. “We were at our wit’s end We had tried so many options and services to help our mother manager her daily medicines, and nothing was working. Not only was she endangering herself, but it was wearing our father down to such a degree that we were highly concerned for his health too.

And then we found Brightstar! Not only is their staff of nurses, pharmacists and caregivers well-trained and highly professional, but they truly care about the whole person and about that person’s family as well. As our parents’ needs have changed, Brightstar has been there to offer  not only med management services but caregivers for specific times and durations as the situations dictate.

We have such peace in knowing we can fully trust the staff at Brightstar to help us care for our parents and meet needs that we are not equipped to handle. With every request we have made, the response from Brightstar is always: ‘Don’t worry about it. We’ll take care of it!'”

Thank you.” – Sue T. and Barbara L. Spartanburg, South Carolina
