BrightStar Care of Howard County and Local Alzheimer's Association Offer Variety of Resources to Help ALZ Patients and Their Caregivers

“5.8 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's, compared to 5.7 million last year. In Maryland, the number of people living with the disease is around 110,000, which is not much of a difference from last year. There are close to 300,000 people in the state who are considered caregivers to someone with the disease. In Summary, the report found that while most primary care physicians believe the tests are important, less than half make it part of their standard protocol. Sources say the doctors cited a few reasons for this.”

Alzheimer's Association"Often its lack of information from the patient, lack of time to do it during the hectic primary care schedule and also patient resistance to testing."

The Alzheimer's Association offers a variety of resources and tools to help patients and their caregivers navigate through an Alzheimer's diagnosis, such as cognitive assessment tool kits.
