BrightStar Care of Howard County Celebrates National Nurses Week - Howard County Nurse Recognition

Thank You to Our Howard County Director of Nursing

Nurses aren’t angels, but they may be the closest thing we have in the workplace.

For 12 of past 13 years, nurses have topped the Gallup Poll of the most trustworthy professionals. Patients and their families know why.  While doctors diagnose illnesses and prescribe medication, surgery or other treatment, it’s often nurses who explain medical procedures, help manage symptoms, respond to emergencies, listen to family concerns, allay patient fears, soothe worries and find ways to make difficult situations bearable.

A nurse’s mission is not only to save lives, but to promote and preserve quality of life.

We are very grateful to have an exceptionally compassionate Director of Nursing at BrightStar Care of Howard County and want to recognize her during National Nurses Week for all her contribution and commitment to providing our clients with a higher standard of care.

Meet Andrea Engle, Director of Nursing

Andrea's nursing career has allowed her to gain experience in many areas including mental health, substance abuse, pediatrics, medical-surgical, oncology, neonatal intensive care, intellectual disabilities, as well as administration and nurse consultation.   She is a graduate of the Mildred Baron Scholarship Program at The Copper Ridge Institute (for Alzheimer’s disease and Dementia) and a Maryland Board of Nursing approved Case Manager and Delegating Nurse.  Additional training includes Forensic Wound Identification, Nursing Interventions for Autism, and Disaster Readiness and Response.  She served as a mentor for nursing students at Carroll Community College and is a member of the Infusion Nurses Society.”
