Join us Saturday, February 4th, for an afternoon of family-friendly activities, education, games, goodie bags and more at the 2017 La Grange Business Association Family Expo. You’ll get tips for healthy living from dozens of fitness, nutrition and lifestyle businesses and services in the community. This year's event will feature winners of NBC's "The Biggest Loser," a fashion show, cooking demos and tips from experts. Over 35 local health and wellness experts will join celebrities and local chefs. Over 35 local health and wellness experts will join celebrities and local chefs at the 2017 Family Health and Wellness Expo on Saturday, February 4 from 12:30-3:30PM at the South Campus of Lyons Township High School, 4900 Willow Springs Road. The expo, which is organized by the La Grange Business Association, has expanded its offerings with interactive activities, cooking demonstrations from local chefs and celebrity appearances along with the opportunity to learn from wellness experts in all disciplines. Participants can get tips from practitioners in fitness, finance, massage, nutrition, chiropractic, acupuncture, elder care, alternative medicine, green lifestyles and more. Free health screenings for blood pressure, cholesterol and others will also be available. Now this year are special appearances and photo opportunities with the Hernandez Brothers, the winners of NBC's "The Biggest Loser" Season 17, the Houlihan Sisters Children's Storybook Author and Illustrator, healthy cooking demonstrations by Chef Nancy Nolan of Prasino in La Grange and Chef/Owner Emilio Gervilla of Emilio's Tapas Restaurant in Hillside, and LUCY Activewear Fashion Show for girls and women. Activities include soccer skills training clinics, vertical jump, free face painting, yoga for kids and adults, chair massages and drumming circles. Attendees will have the opportunity to win prizes from local businesses and attractions. There will be many free samples and goodie bags while supplies last. Experts estimate that if Americans don't change their eating and exercise habits, every third child in the United States will have Type 2 diabetes by the time he or she is 20 years old. "The goal of the expo is to help educate, inspire and motiate families to live healthy and positive lives," said Gioia Giannotti, the Health and Wellness Committee Chair for the La Grange Business Association. "We want to bring a wide variety of community resources together in one place to raise awareness of just how many amenities and opportunities are available in and around La Grange that encourage healthy living." The Family Health & Wellness Expo is jointly sponsored by Parent Community Network in conjunction with Parent University, a half-day event on Feb. 4 that connects parents, educators and community organizations with efforts that help kids grow up healthy and well-adjusted, free of violence and free of substance abuse, through all stages of childhood.
