The La Grange Area Department for Special Education aka LADSE has a yearly resource fair which BrightStar Care of La Grange is honored to be one of many exhibitors. During this one evening every year in November parents attended many with their special needs children to gather information and talk to various community resources. Colleges, job coaches, residential communities and more participate.

How does BrightStar Care of La Grange assist these parents? Have you heard of “The Sandwich Generation”? Many have not, yet they are smack dab in the middle of it.  The Sandwich generation is a generation of people who care for their aging parents while supporting their own children. According to the Pew Research Center, just over 1 of every 8 Americans aged 40 to 60 is both raising a child and caring for a parent, in addition to between 7 to 10 million adults caring for their aging parents from a long distance.

Since we at BrightStar Care serve all ages in their home many attendees were happy to learn how we can help them with their aging relatives but also if they have a special needs child who needs personal care or skilled services.

In addition to in home care, BrightStar Care of Chicago and La Grange also does medical staffing for schools with substitute nurses for the special needs programs within districts.
