Abby Rimmert | Branch Manager Home Care is my passion. The biggest factor in my decision to come to BrightStar was the Joint Commission Accreditation. Additionally, true RN oversight was also exciting. Our competitors do not have true RN oversight like we do. There is nothing more rewarding than to make it possible for someone to remain in the comfort of their own home. I walked away from home care from 2016-2018. I was very discouraged because it seemed impossible to find an agency who stood by what they say. BrightStar does & the past 3 years has been absolutely amazing! The La Crosse area is my hometown. I feel that my community deserves the highest quality options of care. Being able to stand behind all that we do just feels absolutely amazing.
Kelly Klotz | Customer Care Manager I've been at BrightStar for 5 years. Before I was here, my mother got quite ill for a while and my grandmother was her primary caregiver. It was fate that I came across the BrightStar job posting. Yes, it is very fulfilling to help our clients, but the most fulfilling part was being able to help out my grandparents. I love that I still get to have interaction with our clients as a CCM. Veterans are my passion. I come from a military family. I love managing my team, I love the working 1-on-1 with our caregivers. I like to know them as individuals, not just workers.
Zaria Beyer | Customer Care Manager I was working in home care for two years in college. Then, to finish college I worked at an assisted living facility. I found that I wasn't able to build those quality connections with the residents. It made me miss and appreciate Home Care more. When started here, I knew I wanted to get back into home care. I started here as a caregiver, and I was a caregiver for about 3/4 of a year. Last summer I transitioned into the CCM role. Seeing the difference we're making for clients feels so good. Being able to put a care plan together in a quick time frame for someone who quickly needs care feels like such a big impact, and it gives me such a rewarding feeling.
Char Gray | RN Case Manager I came to BrightStar because a former colleague worked for BrightStar and had nothing but great things to say about the company. I enjoy being a RNCM because meeting with families in their homes to formulate a care plan based upon their needs is a crucial step in providing a higher standard of care. I also enjoy getting to know our clients and seeing them in their home environment. There’s no place like home.
Tracey Coleman | RN Case Manager When I was looking for a position in home health, BrightStar staff reached out to me almost immediately. The more questions they asked and answered for me, the more intrigued I got about this job. I have always loved jobs that allow autonomy. I like being in charge of how my day MIGHT look (of course, it changes at the drop of a hat!). I also like the variety of things that we do in this position. One day may be an all-day IV, the next I am educating staff, another, . . . who knows!! I also like that it draws on all the skills that I have learned throughout my nursing career. I like that if we are very short staffed, an RN is not above filling in as a caregiver. Also, we try to help each other out in our office; say if someone is drowning in paperwork, another can step in and try to alleviate some of the workload.
Ramona Smith | RN Case Manager I came to BrightStar in May of 2020 because I was looking for something with more of a team atmosphere. After a year of being an RN in the field, I was promoted to RN Case Manager. I really enjoy taking care of my clients with the goal of keeping them in their home and making sure they are safe there. One thing that I appreciate is knowing that my actions, things that I do when I go into a client’s home, make a difference, and improve their health. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my kids and with my grandkids.
Susan Rather | Owner I hold a bachelor’s degree in medical technology from the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire, and a master’s degree in human relations from Oklahoma University. I have 25 years experience working in medical facilities and laboratories in Alabama, California, Colorado, Germany, and Wisconsin. Before opening the BrightStar business with my husband, Jeff, I was the Laboratory Manager at the Veteran’s Hospital in Madison. While this is a second career for me, helping out families in need and providing quality jobs for our great staff is the most meaningful and rewarding work I’ve ever done.
Jeff Tews | Owner I earned my undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Minnesota, and spent 30+ years in corporate positions at US West, Qwest and US Bank. A re-organization of US Bank started my search for an opportunity to run a small business. When Susan and I heard about BrightStar, we decided it was a perfect opportunity to help families, create jobs, and establish a business in this growing industry.
Lori Tebrinke | Director of Nursing Before coming to Bright Star, I was a night RN at UW Hospital and Clinics on a general internal medicine unit that specialized in Geriatrics and Special Pathogens. I am excited to bring my evidence-based, best practice nursing skills, experiences and training into the private setting. My Bachelor’s degree in Nursing is from UW Madison; additionally I have a Bachelor’s of Science degree from Iowa State University in Communication Disorders with a minor in Psychology. Working here at Bright Star as an RN Case Manager, I feel I have truly come full circle by being able to provide this level of care to my clients in their own home!
Wendy Sulzer | Director of Home Care I came to BrightStar Care with over 8 years experience in senior services marketing and management. I have always found working with older adults rewarding, but helping them reach their goal of returning to or staying at home is the best part of working at BrightStar. My goal is to create cohesive leadership teams of nurses and care managers who will be able to provide the care solutions our clients need.
