I have been employed at BrightStar Care for 7 years. Within 5 years, I was promoted as Branch Manager for BrightStar Care of Laredo and the Alternate Administrator for PW Health Services, assisting the company in achieving success with Clients and Clinicians. With more than 7 years of experience and the completion of hundreds of projects, I have the ability to work effectively, listen to ideas, and help implement the changes necessary for successful completion of any project. After a successful career in Home Health Care, I now coach and train other people on our team to achieve the same success.
Maritza Lopez, RN
Director of Clinical Operations & Director of Nursing (DON)
Maritza R. Lopez is originally from Zapata, Texas but has been a native to the Laredo, Texas area for the past six years. Maritza began her nursing career at the Laredo Medical Center Labor and Delivery Unit immediately after obtaining her Associate Degree in Nursing and Texas Board of Nursing License. She then decided to broaden her area of nursing by taking on a part time position working as a field nurse for a local home health agency. After six months, she grew to love the field and the opportunity to provide care to patients in need throughout the community. She was then presented with the opportunity for a full time RN case manager position at BrightStar Care of Laredo. Through her first year of working as an RN case manager her drive, motivation, dedication and willingness to learn new aspects of nursing care lead to a gain in immense knowledge and experience leading to her promotion to Assistant Director of Nursing. After only three months, she was promoted once again to Director of Nursing and has continued to work on a daily basis serving the population in need of home health care. She is a dedicated and hardworking individual, with willingness to obtain new skills and practices in the clinical setting. She is caring, compassionate and committed to working with a variety of health care populations to provide safe, efficient, quality care. She is a flexible team member, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to adapt to change and is always prepared to go the extra mile for any patient. She strongly believes that with faith, hard work, dedication, determination, motivation and belief in oneself we can overcome any obstacle and we can achieve the impossible.
Melissa Gallegos, RN
Alternate Director Of Nursing
Melissa Gallegos is originally from Zapata, Tx with 4 years of experience in the nursing field. After receiving her Associate Degree in Nursing from Laredo College in 2015, Melissa began working at Laredo Medical Center in the Medical/Surgical/Oncology unit. After a year, Melissa decided to diversify her nursing experience and began working for home health. She instantly fell in love with the aspects of home care and wanted to make a difference in people’s lives. Melissa joined the Bright Star Care team in November 2018 as a Case Manager. At that time, Melissa decided to further her education and received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Texas at Arlington in May 2019. Melissa is now the Assistant Director of Nursing of Bright Star Care of Laredo and has made it her mission to enrich the lives of her patients by providing safe, efficient, and compassionate nursing care. Melissa’s goal for Bright Star Care of Laredo is to expand their excellent nursing care to underserved, rural areas such as Roma, Rio Grande, Hebbronville, and her hometown of Zapata,TX.
Human Resources Manager
Lorraine Prew was born and raised in Laredo, Tx and has been a part of our Brightstar Care team for 6 years. Her journey at Brightstar started in the Medical Records department where after a year she was promoted to Intake Coordinator. Two years into that position she took on the role of Human Resources Assistant to further gain knowledge in different fields of the company. Thereafter, she was promoted to Human Resources Specialist and has since strived to enhance awareness of company initiatives. Brightstar Care has provided her the opportunity to work in all areas of HR including onboarding, employee relations, recruiting and retention, trainings, benefits, payroll, and much more. With her experience she strives to acquire top Health Care professionals in the Laredo and surrounding areas.
