Dan Price

Dan Price The Owner

The path that led Dan Price to become the owner of BrightStar Care of Leesburg and Gainesville is long and winding. After graduating summa cum laude from the University of Maryland, Dan scored the highest grade in Maryland on the CPA exam, worked a couple of years for Arthur Andersen & Co, then earned an MBA from the Harvard Business School.

After that, he began an entrepreneurial career. Over 25 years Dan served as Founder, Chief Executive, Board Member and Advisor to multiple high technology businesses which created hundreds of jobs and millions in value for their shareholders.   In 2009, Dan founded the Sweet Virginia Foundation, a non-profit organization which seeks to teach children about the beauty and order in nature using honey bees.  At his honey bee and cut flower farm in Gainesville, Virginia, Dan grows sunflowers, dahlias and zinnias.   Over the past seven years, he and a team of volunteers have cut and donated over 100,000 flowers to local hospitals, nursing homes and hospices.

Those flowers and the relationships developed around them led Dan to acquiring Brightstar of Leesburg and Gainesville.   He's extremely proud of his BrightStar team and is passionate about bringing the best possible care to seniors and families in our community.

After caring for my parents in their elder years, I felt a calling to obtain my CNA License. After spending many years in the field providing clients with hands-on care through Visiting Angels, I was hired as the Operations Manager of BrightStar Care in 2018. During my time at BrightStar, I have led a team of amazing women and assisted in the growth of our business to multiple territories in Northern Virginia. My passion for the elderly aging in place is why I do what I do. I have two beautiful daughters and enjoy spending my time outdoors. When I am not in the office, you can find me in the mountains camping, kayaking, and enjoying the wilderness.

My passion for nursing began at a young age in South Africa where I witnessed much hardship and was exposed to the power of helping people very early on. My parents would bring me along on trips to nearby villages where we passed out food to families that were struggling. I realized in high school that the best place to start making an impact in this world is right here in Loudoun County; so, I decided to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. I started my nursing career at INOVA Loudoun Hospital where I spent 5 years doing direct patient care in the medical and post-surgical units. During that time, I developed a passion for working with the elderly. I started with BrightStar Care in April 2018 as a Client Care Coordinator. During this time, I realized how important and fulfilling it is to give the elderly the ability to age in their own homes. I am now the Community Nurse Liaison, where I spend my time out in the community spreading the BrightStar Care love. When I am not working, I am spending time with my two children, playing guitar and piano, and doing yoga.

Growing up as a military brat, I moved around quite a bit before finally settling in the Northern Virginia area. My passion for helping the elderly began with fishing with my grandparents, listening to their stories, and gaining a valuable perspective on life. I received a BS in Public Health, and quickly got a job as a Home Health Aide.

My favorite client was a partially paralyzed woman who never remembered my name, even though I worked with her 50 hours a week. I cared for her basic needs, but wanted to do more. As I listened to her life story, I learned she loved to garden and paint. I taught her how to paint left-handed (since she couldn’t use her right side) and would wheel her into her backyard so we could garden together. A few weeks before she passed away, she told me I was her “best friend.” In that moment, I realized that just because you age, it doesn’t mean you stop living and genuine connections are very important.

In 2015, I earned my MPH from George Washington University. I joined the Brightstar Care family in January of 2019 and truly have a passion for this cause and the difference that we make in the lives of both our clients and aides.

After a volunteer opportunity in high school, I realized that there were so many people in the world who need help. I obtained my master’s degree in Social Work and began assisting people with mental health issues remain independent in the community. Through this work, I understood the growing population of older adults who needed help remaining independent in their homes. I wanted to do my part as I watched my Grandmother have a difficult time adjusting to life with an in-home caregiver. I wanted to make sure that people receive high quality of service from an agency that truly cares. This passion brought me to work for BrightStar Care. Here, I focus on retaining our caregivers, monitoring the satisfaction of our clients, and scheduling. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and dog, strength training, and watching movies.

I was 11 years old when I moved to Loudoun County from South Africa. As many would expect – this was a huge change. As a young girl, I always wanted to be a nurse and started my healthcare career as a Nurse Tech and then graduated as a Registered Nurse in 2016. After a few years of working at Loudoun Hospital, I joined the Brightstar Care Team as Director of Nursing in March of 2019. When I am not taking care of our clients that I treasure so dearly, you can find me biking, hiking, running, and spending time with my dog, Rowan.

As a military child I lived all over but settled in Virginia in 1991 when my oldest daughter was 5 weeks old. I dreamed of becoming a nurse to help people regardless of their age, race, color, health or economic status, or situation. I wanted to make a difference in their lives. I attended Northern Virginia Community College and graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1997, the same year I married my husband. My husband Erik and I live in Nokesville with two of our children (Nicholas, 17, and Dakota, 18). Our oldest daughter, Dana, lives close by with her husband and our two grand cuties (ages 7 and 1 year). My hobbies include spending time with family, gardening, craft projects, and turning trash to treasures. I would like to advance my education with a Masters Degree in Public Health. My nursing experience includes pediatrics, infertility, primary care, ambulatory care, and geriatrics. My passion for caring for people is limitless and lifelong! Life is short and so very precious. I joined Brightstar Care of Leesburg and Gainesville in October 2018 with a vision of improving the quality of life for our clients. I enjoy getting to know our clients and building relationships with them and their families. When I visit with clients, I aim to really make a difference in their day-to-day living through support and compassion leading to a higher quality of life and independence.
