BrightStar Care and the James E. Kinney Senior Center are proud to announce a screening of the short film, My Million Dollar Mom on November 13, 2018 from 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm at the James E. Kinney Senior Center located at 165 Township Road, Richboro, PA 18954.  A discussion about the various forms of Dementia and the issues of care giving will follow the film.

The film screening and program is provided by Million Dollar Mom LLC with the cooperation of the Dementia Society of America, with the goals of raising awareness about Dementia and helping people plan ahead.

Inspired by the true story of Ross Schriftman and his mom Shirley, My Million Dollar Mom is a film that focuses on the challenges faced by families when a loved one develops Dementia. When an aging mom’s health starts failing from Alzheimer’s, her son must decide between his last chance to realize his life’s dream of becoming a Congressman, and his desire to honor his mother’s wishes to remain in her home and be cared for by him.  Scriftman is the writer and producer of the film and the author of a book by the same name.

Following the showing of the 32 minute film, a discussion about care giving will take place which will provide an opportunity for participants to share their ideas and experiences and learn from one another.  A take-home planning checklist will be provided.  In addition, there will be a short presentation on brain health and ways that people can maintain good health into their later years.

“We are pleased to offer this program to the community,” says Eric Sierka, owner of BrightStar Care of South Bucks and Southeast Montgomery Counties.  “Our goal is to raise awareness about Dementia and give courage to families who are caring for a loved one.  BrightStar Care is literally serving people with dementia every second of every day and is committed to the well-being of those who live with one of the forms of Dementia.”

The public is invited and encouraged to attend.  A reception with light refreshments will follow.
