Challenger Little League is a non-profit organization that was created with one purpose in mind, to give kids of all abilities the opportunity to play baseball. BrightStar Care is a proud sponsor of challenger and our president of BrightStar Care Lubbock, Lonny Kane, has sat on the board for over 10 years and is an active coach.

Challenger Little League Opening Day is the start of the 2019 season. BrightStar Care team members were joined by SubT from Lubbock Christian University and volunteers from Margaret Talkington. Together we helped sponsors set-up booths, direct traffic, and guide players from one booth to another. For the first few hours, players and Challenger Buddy volunteers checked-in to get their team shirts, pictures and play games!

Fun & Games

Companies from across the South Plains hosted booths like pickle fishing from University Medical Center, karaoke from M & C Technology and bubbles from the Science Spectrum. Attendees could also explore vehicles from the Lubbock Fire and Police department including SWAT vehicles and the AeroCare Helicopter.

Opening Ceremony

Opening ceremony started off with a prayer, followed by the national anthem sung by the TechTones of Texas Tech University. Afterwards each team was introduced with cheers from the crowd. The ceremony closed with the throwing of the first pitch of the season.

The first pitch was a special occasion this year. Representatives from every team threw a pitch to baseball players from Lubbock Christian School and Texas Tech University.

We would like to thank all of the volunteers, sponsors and public servants who make the league possible.
