Lessons Over Lunch

March 18, 2019
IMG_1543.JPGWe believe we have some of the most knowledgeable, innovative and skilled nurses in West Texas. Two of our team members, Christy V., our Case Manager, and Denise A., our Intake RN, have been leaders within BrightStar Care when it comes to training. They were recently asked to come share their knowledge with the social workers of University Medical Center and Covenant Health.

During this lunch and learn, Christy and Denise discussed communication among health professionals and patients. This CEU credited course presented talking points on improving communication across departments and most importantly the variety of patients health professionals serve.

Through a mixture of costume changes and role playing, our team acted out the story of a patient whose goal did not align with the goal of the clinical team. Most importantly how the clinical team changed their conversations and approach to better serve the clients.

This informative CEU course reflects the care and communication challenges that our nursing team faces. When working with clients with multiple doctors and multiple team members providing services from skilled nursing to therapy, it is important that every staff member is on the same page to provide a higher standard of care. Beyond the care we want to build trust with our clients that we have the same goal “to help them achieve more.”

If more is mobility, we have physical therapist to support you. If it’s post-op healing, we have Wound Care Certified nurses to help. If it’s gaining knowledge or improving your clinical team, we have team members eager to be a source of knowledge!
