Worcester Mourns the Passing of a Legend

February 14, 2016
We are saddened by the635909838735642880-AXX-SCALIA-SUPREME-COURT unexpected passing of Justice Antonin Scalia. He brought intellect, personality and transparency to his role as Supreme Court Justice. In a period of heightened political debate his passing is an opportunity to reflect on all that is great about this country. Justice Scalia, regardless of whether or not one agreed with his decisions no one - friend or foe, admirer or detractor, Republican, Democrat or Independent- can deny the sheer brilliance of his mind, the dedication he showed to the Supreme Court, his commitment to public service, and his absolute love of country. Despite being opposites on virtually every decision before the Court he enjoyed a deep and abiding friendship with fellow Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg whom he referred to as his "best buddy" on the court. They vacationed with one anther's families all over the world. "I love him but sometimes I'd like to strangle him," Justice Ginsburg once said, according to Reuters. He will be long remembered and appreciated for the footprint he left us.
