2020 National Family Caregivers Month in North Bucks

November 18, 2020

Caregiving is a tough job, and in November, we recognize the people in North Bucks who care for, clean for, shop for, and comfort the millions of elderly and ill people who are friends and loved ones.

November is National Family Caregivers Month, and this year's theme is #CaregivingInCrisis, highlighting the new realities that family caregivers and their loved ones face during these uncertain times.

Many caregivers work and provide care at the same time, and it creates conflict between competing responsibilities. "Research indicates caregiving also takes a significant emotional, physical, and financial toll. With nearly half of all caregivers over age 50, many are vulnerable to a decline in their health.

Studies also show that "coordinated support services can reduce caregiver depression, anxiety, and stress, and enable them to provide care longer, which avoids or delays the need for costly institutional care."

Caregivers need to take care of their psychological and physical health. Supporting caregivers with information and resources can help them maintain a healthy life balance and better serve loved ones with medical and personal care needs.
