Providing RN oversight on every case from day one
Emily Minard, RN, BSN
How long have you been a Nurse?
I have been a nurse for 15 years. I received my bachelors degree from the University of Michigan.
What experience do you bring to BrightStar Care®?
I spent my first year as a nurse interning at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, MI. The internship included experience on Neurology, Oncology, Cardiology and Pulmonary medical units. The bulk of my experience (8 years) is in homecare. Two of those years, I served as a High-Tech Nurse. I taught patients and families how to manage Intravenous Infusions, Tracheostomies, Ostomies, Gastric Tubes and Wound Vacs in their homes. In addition, I spent one year as a nurse case manager for Worker’s Compensation and Auto Insurance claims. This role allowed me to work closely with physicians to expedite the healing process for injured claimants. Prior to coming on board at BrightStar Care, I worked at a Skilled Nursing Facility assisting patients to bridge the gap from hospital to home. My experience spans the continuum of care from start to finish, hospital to Skilled Nursing Facility to home. This enables me to be a knowledgeable resource to our clients.
What aspect of your job are you most passionate about?
I am most passionate about helping patients and families learn to manage chronic disease in the comfort of their own homes. Educating our staff and clients is the key to improving outcomes and ensuring the highest quality of life. It is my joy to be a resource, connecting clients to the services and care they need.
I provide A Higher Standard of Care for our BrightStar Care® clients by...
Taking the time to get to know each client, placing a high priority on respecting each person as an individual with unique needs and goals. I develop a person-centered care plan and work with our recruiter and scheduler to match a skilled and kind caregiver to meet our client’s home care goals.
