Our Director of Nursing at BrightStar of Oakland

Christy Wolf, RN

Dedicated to providing quality care for Oakland and Berkeley

ChristyWolfHow long have you been a nurse?

I have been a Registered Nurse for 18 years and the Director of Nursing at BrightStar Care for 6 years.

What experience do you bring to BrightStar Care®?

Prior to receiving my nursing degree I worked as a Certified Nurses Assistant in several nursing homes and lastly at John Muir Medical Center. I have also worked as a Physical Therapy Assistant for many local hospitals. These experiences have made me a well rounded nurse by enabling me to experience different areas of the medical field and by giving me a unique perspective regarding the importance that each member of the healthcare team plays. Prior to coming to BrightStar Care, I was an orthopedic nurse/charge nurse at John Muir Medical Center. I feel that my experience working in a fast paced, trauma floor enabled me to gain a great deal of strength in my skill to react calmly and quickly, time manage effectively and think on my feet, which is very beneficial when being in the home care field. My specialties include orthopedics, geriatrics and hospice.

What aspect of your job are you most passionate about?

While I enjoyed working at John Muir, what I like most about home health is the ability to spend more quality time with my clients. I enjoy the fact that I can be with one client at a time and devote that time strictly to them. Because I am in my clients homes I feel that I am able to develop a close relationship with them and their family members. I learned so much more about my client by being able to focus my attention solely on them and really learn about the whole person. Another important aspect of my position is mentoring other nurses and I enjoy this tremendously.

I am Making More Possible for our BrightStar Care® clients by….

I provide a higher standard of care by listening, advocating for my clients and giving them information that they need in order to make informed decisions and then support them in those decisions, I serve as the go-between in interactions with physicians, social workers, pharmacists and other members of the healthcare team to ensure that our clients transition to needing home health services goes smoothly.
