Tips for Leading a Heart-Healthy Lifestyle

February 22, 2018
During the month of February, Richmond seniors are to be reminded of their heart health. The heart, just like the rest of your body parts, need regular exercise to promote good health and fight against disease. It has been researched that the more active you are, the risk of coronary heart disease and hypertension goes down. If you struggle to get into an expertise routine, here are some tips:

1) Find an exercise that is fun for you to enjoy.
2) Don’t exercise alone - find a workout buddy to keep you accountable.
3) Don’t overdo it. Start out slow and easy and increase the difficulty as you gain more strength.
4) Stay hydrated. As Richmond seniors age, they begin to lose the urge to drink water, so remember to drink some every fifteen minutes while exercising.
