Reports that flu cases in Salt Lake City are Increasing

Utah Department of Health says "the flu has become widespread in the state, and the number of cases is expected to continue rising."  It’s time to get vaccinated if you have not yet done so!  Don’t delay.  Especially if you are a senior, health care worker, have contact with children or have a compromised immune system (learn more about your immune system here : BrightStar Home Care Nurse Talks About Your Immune System

The state health department has recorded more than 400 residents have been hospitalized due to the illness this season and most of the cases are seniors ages 65 and up.  The department reports that the highest number of cases has been in the Salt Lake City area.  Department epidemiologist Gregg Reed says “the flu can be more severe for the elderly, children and people with weakened immune systems.”  Reed says “people should still get a vaccine as it helps not just the individual avoid the flu, but it also helps reduce the spread of the disease in an area.”
