BrightStar Spinal Cord Injury Care

December 21st, 2016

Did you know...that BrightStar Care gives care to clients with spinal cord injuries?

One of our recent spinal cord injury (SPI) clients was injured in a snowboarding accident 7 or 8 years ago.
He loves Utah andwheel chair wanted to stay indefinitely but the cold was too much for him and he is presently relocating to California.
He has been well cared for during the last 15 months by Shirley, Margie, Maria, Andie and Kim.

Another client suffered her spinal cord trauma three decades ago and went on to marry and raise a family of 4 sons who are now grown.
This client is an intrepid traveler and this past summer spent about three weeks in Europe as well as some time camping in northern Idaho.
Many CNAs for BrightStar Care have cared for this Murray client during her time with us.

Finally our SPI client in Draper was actually one of our first clients.
His car accident happened almost two decades ago. Nurses and CNAs assist in the morning and evening seven days a week.
This client enjoys his five (count them) cats and spends time each day at his computer.
He moved here from Georgia to be near family.
In 2017 he plans to install an elevator in his home so that he can finally sleep in his upstairs bedroom.

BrightStar Care does very well in our role as caregivers for spinal cord injury clients.
In 2017 we hope to admit several more to our service.

To that end we held our Christmas Party at Neuroworx rehabilitation center on December 1st.
The founder of Neuroworx, Dr. Dale Hull (who suffered his own spinal cord injury 15 years ago), gave our staff a tour of the rehab center. Two of the highlights for staff were watching the wheelchair basketball going on in the gym and watching Doug try out the landroving vehicle for persons with SCI to engage in outdoor activities.
After a delicious catered dinner one of Neuroworx current patients spoke about her journey towards recovery since her injury.
A slide show was shown highlighting our BrightStar Care year in review and some comments from Tammara and Alex followed about BrightStar hopes for 2017.
Games, prizes and door prizes completed the evening.

This event was the beginning of what we hope is a long and mutually beneficial relationship between Neuroworx and BrightStar Care.
