Providing RN oversight on every case from day one
Jana Roy, RN
Where did you gain your Nursing Degree?
I received my associate’s degree in Nursing from Community College of Allegheny County (South Campus).
What experience do you bring to BrightStar Care®?
Years ago, I began my nursing career as a registered nurse with UPMC - Childrens Hospital. At Childrens, I provided direct care involving adolescence endocrine, taking care of patients with DKA, cystic fibrosis, cickle cell anemia, PCA Pumps, pain management, NG Tube Care, G Tube, TPN etc. I also worked as a staff nurse at Canonsburg Hospital - Geriatric Unit where I provided direct patient care involving heart monitor, IV therapy, heparin therapy, injections, catheterization, wound care, dressing etc. wound vac, diabetes management etc. before starting our BrightStar Care agencies in Pittsburgh with my husband.
What aspect of your job are you most passionate about?
I am passionate about caring for the ones who need care, and helping the ones who deserve a helping hand. We as humans, all God’s children, are on a journey of aging and occasional failing health. As the Director of Nursing for BrightStar Care, I get to meet God’s children every day. At the end of each day, I feel better knowing that at least some of us are not going without care.
I am Making More Possible for our BrightStar Care® clients by...
Trying to build a bridge of trust with each of my clients and his/her family. While assessing their care need – I try to judge their holistic and spiritual needs as well, which helps me to make more possible. I make more possible by ensuring that my clients are in good hands and by comforting someone who would feel helpless without my care.
