Jeff Stone's Story
Searching for the right in-home care provider is an extremely emotional process. There is a wide range of considerations, including cost, quality of care, communication, trust, and caregiver compatibility. I understand firsthand the challenges involved with this important decision. As part of the "sandwich generation" (individuals taking care of both their children and parents), my own experience brought about a heightened awareness that motivated me to open BrightStar Care of Tulsa. I am happy to say that my family and I was able to honor my mother's wish to remain in her home of over 35 years after a diagnosis of a serious illness. While she was very independent, her needs changed over time. She ultimately needed additional care, but received that care in the comfort and privacy of her own home. I am truly grateful that we were able to honor her wishes. My vision, mission and values for BrightStar Care of Tulsa is dedicated to this wonderful mother, grandmother, and friend to many. It is an honor to be able to make a difference and to be of service to our community. We look forward to serving you and your family. Please call us, and we'll be there — Any Time, Any Place.
Meet Our Team
Karen Burgess, RN - Clinical Supervisor
I think I was born a "Nurse". I had a 4-bed doll hospital set up in my bedroom for years. Every "patient" got water and a temperature check daily. I never gave up that idea. I have been a "Nurse" officially for 37 years. In that amount of time I can safely say that I have worked in just about every area where a Nurse was needed. After 14 years of nursing I went back to school and got my BSN and MSN. I then had the privilege of instructing in an RN to BSN program. That was one of the brightest highlights of my nursing career. I LOVE being a Nurse and cannot think of anything else I would rather be. I am sure that when I am no longer employed as a nurse that I will still be a Nurse - because I don't just work as a nurse - I am a NURSE. By providing quality education and learning opportunities for caregivers, we can provide the best quality care to our clients.
Tiffany Andazola - HR Director and Client Care Manager
My true passion has always been helping others, and am blessed to do that every day. I have been in the Healthcare field for over 15 years; administratively and 5 years in Home Health. I am honored to be a member of the BrightStar family and I am blessed to be able to help our clients retain their independence and live out their lives to the fullest. At BrightStar Care of Tulsa, we are happy to serve not only our clients, but to give their families peace of mind. As the Client Care Manager, I enjoy talking with clients about their family members to better understand what is needed to provide optimal care for their loved one. This also allows me the opportunity to determine which staff member would best match the needs and personality of the client. We are here to celebrate our client's successes and help carry them through their challenges. I love to hear it when our clients say, "Thank you - our caregiver is a perfect match!"
Dave Block - Branch Manager
I have loved helping people all my life. In previous positions, I have been referred to as "full-service Dave", because I go the extra mile to help those who need it. The best part of my job is that I get to develop relationships with healthcare professionals who work directly with the people that will need additional care once they get back home - where ever "home" might be. Getting those people the help they need so they can age in place is very important to them, and to me as well. I really enjoy going into facilities and making their days just a little brighter with a kind word, a warm smile, and solutions to their most immediate healthcare needs. I enjoy working in the yard, baking, spending time with my family and friends, and working with the wonderful staff that we have at BrightStar Care of Tulsa.
Katie Mejia - Client Care Manager and Administrative Assistant
Helping people is a passion of mine, I enjoy being able to do it each and every day with a servant's heart. I have been in healthcare for over 4 years. I am honored to serve our community by helping people live their lives to the fullest and improve their quality of life. At BrightStar Care of Tulsa we are happy to serve not only our clients but their families to give them peace of mind. As the Client Care Manager, I enjoy getting to know our clients so that I can better understand their needs and match them with somebody 100% compatible. We are here to celebrate their successes and help carry them through their challenges. I love to hear it when our clients say, "I am so pleased with my caregiver!"
Jamal West - Recruiter
I joined BrightStar Care in the fall of 2020 - in the heart of the pandemic. My passion has always been to find the best and brightest talent in whatever field I have been in. As my parents and grandparents have aged, I've seen that there is a big need in the senior community to find caregivers who want to make a difference in the individuals and the families they serve. Being a caregiver for BrightStar Care isn't just a job - it really is a calling to serve. If you know of a caregiver that goes above and beyond to make it great, that does the right thing, serves with passion, is open and positive and does what they say, please have them give me a call at 918-392-9949. These are the sort of individuals that I am looking to add to our TEAM.
