Providing RN oversight on every case from day one
Laura Entwistle RN, BSN
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A NURSE? I’ve been an RN for more than 25 years.
WHAT EXPERIENCE DO YOU BRING TO BRIGHTSTAR CARE? I began my career in healthcare as a volunteer for a local Home Care and Hospice program. As a result of that experience, I returned to college with the goal of becoming a nurse so that I could have a bigger impact on the care provided to Senior Citizens in the comfort of their home. After graduating, I began my career as a home care case manager with a focus on care of patients with chronic illness. Soon after, I became a Hospice and Palliative Care nurse, providing specialized care to patients diagnosed with a life limiting illness. I provided care to them in their home during all phases of illness, from diagnosis, during and after treatment and at end of life. Having found my passion I studied for and attained Board Certification in Hospice and Palliative Care. After 8 years caring for patients in their home I advanced to Nursing Supervisor of Hospice and Palliative care and then became the Director.
WHAT ASPECT OF YOUR JOB ARE YOU MOST PASSIONATE ABOUT? I truly love that Home Care provides me the opportunity to spend more time on a one-on-one basis with our clients. In my role as Director of Nursing with BrightStar I truly get to know our clients and see the difference we are making in their lives.
I PROVIDE A HIGHER STANDARD OF CARE FOR OUR CLIENTS BY... Educating and training our caregivers and nurses to ensure they are providing the highest quality of care for our clients. I take the time to get to know our clients, understand their needs, and help them navigate and advocate for the best care possible.
