I recently had an unusually challenging experience at a nursing facility where my elderly aunt was in residence. Brightstar greatly assisted me in dealing with the facility to establish and provide essential care for my aunt. In a nutshell my 95 year old aunt, who normally lived in an independent unit at a nice facility, or so I thought, had a brief hospitalization and after hospital discharge went to the skilled nursing facility at this facility. After a few weeks she was almost eligible for discharge back to her independent apartment as long as we could prove we had engaged a skilled care provider to visit her a few days a week to provide one specialized care need. The facility however presented great challenges to both myself and Brightstar in supplying us with the Dr order that would be necessary to contract with Brightstar to provide this care for my aunt in her independent department. Since my aunt had reached a point in skilled nursing where Medicare had stopped providing payment/Care, the facility was charging my aunt quite a bit of money on a per day basis as she continued to be in skilled nursing facility. I certainly got the impression they were in no hurry to give myself/Brightstar the new doctor order which would have an enabled Brightstar to immediately provide the care in my aunit’s independent department. I was impressed how Brightstar went to bat with phone calls and emails to the facility, Confirming they would be under contract with me to provide the care as soon as we got the doctors order from the Skilled nursing wing. It was quite frustrating for both Brightstar and myself as it seemed that the facility had no great interest in providing the order as they continued to keep my aunt in their nursing area on private pay. Ultimately we did get the order and Brightstar immediately commenced the necessary care. I really appreciate Brightstar's support during a very stressful time.
