BrightStar Care Hosts “Deck the Halls for a Cause” Fundraiser for Area Senior Programs

January 21, 2021
BrightStar Care of Anne Arundel County, Easton and the Lower Shore recently hosted the first annual “Deck the Halls for a Cause,” raising $1400 for area programs and services for senior citizens.

According to Christina Wingate-Spence, BrightStar’s regional director of Marketing and Community Outreach, area businesses and individuals entered hand-crafted holiday decorations, including wreaths, swags, floral arrangements and craft items, which were then auctioned online. BrightStar Care’s marketing team collected more than 40 entries.

All proceeds from “Deck the Halls for a Cause” were equally divided between four agencies; MAC, Inc., the Area Agency on Aging for Dorchester, Somerset, Wicomico and Worcester Counties; Upper Shore Aging, Inc., the Area Agency on Aging for Caroline, Kent and Talbot Counties; Queen Anne’s County Senior Centers; and the Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and Disabilities Fund.

“Because of the various health and safety concerns related to COVID-19, most of our community’s beloved holiday fundraising events – which our team looks forward to participating in each and every year – were cancelled,” says Wingate-Spence. “’Deck the Halls for a Cause’ was born from our desire to help community organizations that have been impacted by the pandemic, in a safe and virtual way, while giving our colleagues and community members something creative and uplifting in which to participate.”

BrightStar Care was so pleased with the turnout for the “Deck the Halls” event that not only will it become an annual event, but the Marketing and Community Outreach team has plans to host a similar event in the spring, benefiting other community organizations.

“Our team takes great pride in not only the exceptional services we provide our clients, spanning more than 10 Maryland Counties, but also in our ability to give back to our local communities through outreach programs and education,” adds Wingate-Spence. “Being active participants in our communities and a resource to the communities in which we live, and work, is at the core of who we are and what we do at BrightStar Care.”
